The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Data Engineering patterns on Azure Cloud, Data Lake House Architecture using Azure and Snowflake, dimensional modelling, data governance and providing data to support business intelligence and analytics with large data ecosystems. We prefer candidates with Snowflake, Azure and Fabric Certifications and additional weightage to be given to DMBOK or TOGAF certifications.Mandatory Required Qualification10+ Years of hands-on experience in Information Technology, with 5+ years of experience designing and executing data solutions.Excellent at client facing role and communication skills.Hands-on experience building data solutions using Snowflake, Azure, Kafka, Python, SQL and Spark.Experience in managing large data ecosystems and championing data governance.Experience managing geo-distributed teams.In This Role, You Will Develop and maintain a robust data architecture strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives. Define data models, schemas, and storage solutions for structured and unstructured data.Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) to support data storage, processing, and analytics needs.Design and implement data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and integrating data from various sources into the cloud data environment.Champion and evangelize latest advancements in Data Management industry within tsworks and across clientsResearch and champion latest advancements in engineering, cloud computing and AI on Snowflake and Azure and bring those advancements to tsworks and clients.Implement data security measures and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Establish access controls, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.Define and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices. Ensure data quality, consistency, and lineage.Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, errors, and inefficiencies.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data requirements and provide data solutions that meet their needs.Monitor and manage cloud resource costs effectively, optimizing the usage of cloud services to reduce overall TCO for internal as well as client data platform.Integrate disparate data models across the company into one enterprise-wide Unified Data Platform design.Drive culture of standardization in data transformation and analytic logic.Interaction with software engineering and DBA teams to understand their database requirements for new products or features.Participate in prototyping and proof of concept system development and benchmarking.Plan and implement backup and recovery strategies.Plan and provide operational oversight in database maintenance with minimal impact to customers.Participate in code reviews, ensuring best practices are followed.Identify and resolve production issues and participate in debugging and root cause analysis.Skills & KnowledgeBachelors degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related field.Proven experience as a Data Architect, with a focus on Azure and Snowflake.In-depth knowledge of Azure cloud platforms and their data services.Proficient in using different features of Snowflake such as Snowpipe Streaming, Streams and Tasks, managing different virtual warehouses and ensuring cost optimization, Notebooks, Native Applications, Streamlit, Data Exchange etc.Proficiency using Relational and NoSQL databases.Hands-on experience on with streaming technologies such as Kafka and Flink.Strong understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, and data integration paradigms such as the Medallion Architecture.Familiarity with data modeling and data governance using Snowflake and external tools such as Collibra or Microsoft Purview.Hands-on experience with Snowflake Cortex AI features.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Knowledge of data security and compliance standards.Hands-on experience working in an agile setting.Self-driven, naturally curious, and able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.Be able to articulate, create, and maintain technical and non-technical documentation.Certifications such as Snow Pro Core or Advanced, Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer or Microsoft Certified Fabric Data Engineer is a needDMBOK or TOGAF is a plus.Location: The position is based in Vancouver, Canada, with a hybrid work model requiring 3 days per week in our clients office.
