Job Summary: Based in Toronto, the Operations Manager will report to the Vice President of Operations and be responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and controlling activities in a manner that ensures the highest possible levels of productivity, quality, on time delivery, customer satisfaction, and profitability while maintaining a positive and safe work environment. Duties: Collaborating with the executive team to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the companys goals and objectives Driving initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall business performance Defining and monitoring performance measurement (KPI) and taking actions to ensure operational and strategic goals are in alignment Overseeing and optimizing day-to-day operations, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow across all departments Training staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies Implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes Working closely with the Vice President of Operations, the Senior Engineering Manager, and the finance team to develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial stability and growth Requisitioning materials and supplies Identifying cost-saving opportunities and revenue-generating strategies Building and leading a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability Resolving work problems and recommending work measures to improve productivity and product quality Providing mentorship and guidance to team members, promoting professional development Establishing methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments Identifying and mitigating operational risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards Developing and implementing contingency plans to address potential changes Recommending personnel actions such as hirings and promotions Preparing production and other reports Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Requirements: A bachelors degree in engineering, technology or equivalent is required Technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering, or as a technologist, or equivalent experience is required Experience in a variety of manufacturing sectors is required 5+ years of experience in a leadership position, with significant expertise in leading Lean initiatives, managing growth, introducing and successfully implementing new manufacturing methodologies and technologies is required Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, lead, and motivate a team In-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9001 standards Strong familiarity with JIT, Lean Manufacturing, MRP, and ERP systems Experience in setting up and optimizing manufacturing processes and performance metrics (KPIs) Proficiency in conflict resolution, employee discipline, and effective task delegation Must possess a strong entrepreneurial sense Must have experience with setting and implementing business strategies Experience providing exceptional customer service Must have a sound business financial understanding Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Strong understanding of material specifications and company operations Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel Experience with relevant machinery in a manufacturing setting Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle challenging situations tactfully and judiciously Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, as required Willingness and capability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions Ability to perform arithmetic calculations for estimating and managing materials quantities Capacity to meet tight deadlines during regular and peak periods, and to respond to last-minute demands At CMI we are committed to fostering an inclusive equitable workplace, free of bias and discrimination, where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
