With approximately $15 billion in major infrastructure developments, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of construction oversight.About the Project:The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project will extend the Expo Line 16 kilometers, primarily along Fraser Highway from King George Station in Surrey to 203 Street in the City of Langley. It will improve regional transportation connections and provide fast, frequent and reliable transit service, especially for those who live, work, study and play South of the Fraser River. The project includes eight new stations and three new transit exchanges. Once complete, the travel time from Langley City Centre to King George SkyTrain Station will be about 22 minutes. Join us and be a part of something impactful!Job Overview:Reporting to the Technical Manager, Guideways, the position provides professional assistance and supports technical aspects of the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project with a focus on the guideway and trackwork. The Senior Project Engineer will support the technical team through design and construction phases of the project and will take the lead in various aspects of the project including utilities, roadworks, structures, and trackwork.Our Corporate Values:Success is shared.Relationships matter.Teamwork builds capacity.Challenges are embraced.We do what we say we will doWhat we offer:Vacation starts at 5 weeks and you earn 1 day per year to a maximum of 6 weeks; however, if you join us from the BC Public Service your starting point will be commensurate with your earned years of serviceLearning and Development TI Corp is dedicated to professionally growing staff and building internal capacity, through mentorship, active succession planning, learning and development financial assistance, and membership duesWe offer the same extended health benefits that are offered to included BC Public Servants plus a $1000 Health Spending Account annuallyWe are part of the BC Public Sector Pension Plan if you join us from other Public Service or Public Sector organizations who are part of this pension plan, your pension will continue seamlesslyKey Accountabilities:Review design and construction submittals for compliance with the Project Agreement and other applicable standards and specifications.Collaborate with the Owners Engineer team through the technical review of the design packages.Liaise with 3rd party stakeholders for input on relevant design and construction packages and review stakeholder comments.Attend technical meetings with the Design Build Contractors and participate in technical discussions related to utilities, roadworks, structure, and trackwork.Take a proactive approach to identify design issues and work collaboratively with internal and Design Builder teams to resolve them.Review the Request for Information (RFI) requests by the Design Builder team and respond within the required timeframe.Coordinate with the utility companies undertaking the advanced work to ensure timely completion to meet the project schedule.Prepare monthly progress updates for the advanced works.Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders during the design and construction phases to address key challenges and resolve complex problems.Assist the Technical Manager in providing oversight to internal team members and the Owners Engineer team.Monitors construction activities (both owner direct works and SLS project contractor) and prepares progress reports.Maintain continuous and effective communication with project teams including construction, commercial, and communications.Identify the risks associated with project scope changes and liaise with internal teams in a timely manner to mitigate these risks.Qualifications:Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and 7-10 years of post-graduate experience in the engineering and construction industry. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.Experience in the construction phase of major projects in the Lower Mainland Area is preferred.Experience in Transit Projects and Trackwork is preferred.Working knowledge of utilities, roadworks, and structures.Knowledge of construction methodologies.Knowledge of project management methodologies and systems.Good understanding of utilities engineering regulations, best practices, policies and guidelines/requirements.Demonstrated ability to build and maintain good working relationships.Ability to anticipate and assess issues and determine the best course of action.Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.Valid BC Drivers license.Note:You must be legally authorized to work in Canada.Collection Notice: Your personal information is collected from LinkedIn by Transportation Investment Corporation (TI Corp) pursuant to 26(c), 26(e), and 27(1)(a)(i) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for the purpose of TI Corp recruitment.
