Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services Coordinator will provide technical support to the Estimating team and help with preparation for Project Estimates.Primary Scope of Role Read, interpret, and understand contract drawings and specifications, and maintain conformance with same during work processes.Assist in the preparation of project estimates using estimating software.Construction site visits for ongoing projectsWork primarily in the estimating office, with site visits and attendance at pre-tender meetings as required.Such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor.Specific DutiesProvide technical assistance to Estimators including analysis of tender drawings and preparation of quantity takeoffs from first principles for work GIP self performs.Interpret and understand Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and OPSDs and all relevant Special Provisions for each tendered project.Communicate with supervisors and management at site.Position RequirementsDegree in Civil Engineering is required.Experience reading plans is required.Previous experience in the construction industry is preferred but not required.Strong computer skills using MS Office (including VBA and Macros), Bluebeam / Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, Sketchup and practical programming software are a MUST.Steel / wood design skills are a definite plus.Access to a vehicle is preferred.Outcome-focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.Superb communication and interpersonal skills.Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.Demonstrate versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges.Success PredictorsAnalytical mindset.Versatile and resourceful problem solver.Proactive and self-motivated.Effective communicator, confident in engaging with all levels of the company.About UsOur PeopleAt Green Infrastructure Partners (GIP), our people are second to none.
