Description: Reporting to the Director of Organizational Development, the Learning & Development Lead is responsible for identifying educational needs and designing, developing, and delivering a blended, multifaceted educational approach. Working closely with the interdisciplinary clinical team, this role creates and implements educational programs that integrate adult education methodologies, tools, and techniques for diverse audiences. The Lead promotes a culture of learning excellence by developing practice-enhancing programs and ensuring alignment with Victoria Hospice''s strategic priorities. This includes facilitating external professional development opportunities and advancing community-based programming to improve patient and family outcomes, enhance care quality, and increase awareness of end-of-life and hospice care across the Island Health region. Collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to develop and share learning initiatives is a key responsibility of this position. What youll do: Program Leadership and Planning: Collaborate with the Director to plan and oversee the Learning and Development portfolio, ensuring integrated, high-quality, and cost-effective services aligned with best practices. In addition, contribute to the development of the operating budget for services within the portfolio. Education Framework Development: Collaborate with the Director to create an Education Framework, strategies, and best practices to equip staff and volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge for success, supporting ongoing educational growth and infrastructure. Learning & Development Solutions: Partner with hospice leaders, educators, and subject matter experts to design cost-effective learning strategies, tailored to meet organizational needs and optimize development outcomes. Learning Modalities & Educational Technology: Evaluate clinical learning needs and leverage a variety of learning modalities (eLearning, workshops, experiential learning, etc.) and educational technologies to create, modify, and enhance curricula, programs, and resources. Advisory Role on Educational Technology: Guide leaders, educators, and corporate partners on the effective use of educational technologies to ensure high-quality, performance-focused learning experiences. Blended Learning Approach: Develop and implement a diverse range of educational strategies, including online courses, workshops, microlearning, and facilitator guides, to address specific learning objectives and requirements. Proposals & Recommendations: Lead the development of education proposals and recommendations for initiatives, ensuring clear resource allocation and realistic timelines for content creation and delivery. Program Design Alignment: Ensure educational programs align with operational guidelines and the holistic approach to Hospice care, enhancing interdisciplinary learning. Facilitation of Adult Learning: Lead the delivery of educational programming using adult learning principles to promote engagement and effective learning outcomes. Networking & Knowledge Sharing: Build and maintain networks to stay informed on education trends, foster innovation, and identify opportunities for partnerships to enhance learning and performance support across the organization. Continuous Improvement & Best Practices: Stay current with instructional design trends and research, incorporating evidence-based practices to continuously improve educational programs. Learner Assessment: Establish assessment processes to evaluate if learning objectives are met and adjust programs as needed to ensure efficacy. Evaluation & Reporting: Assess the effectiveness of education initiatives through course evaluations, surveys, and written reports, recommending improvements to continuously elevate program quality. In addition, ensure Learning and Development practices meet accreditation standards. Project Management: Prioritize and manage multiple educational projects, maintaining organized records of development stages, timelines, and updates. Leadership & Collaboration: Provide leadership in collaboration with healthcare providers, staff, and educators, ensuring opportunities for staff input and ownership in their learning and development experiences. What youll bring: Undergraduate degree in Adult Education, Distance Education, Educational Technology or Instructional Design Education, or related field required. Masters Degree is an asset. Minimum 3 years of related experience required in learning technologies, education, and performance support to support workplace learning within a complex health care or business environment. Additional education in a clinical or health care field considered an asset. The salary range is $63,669 - $80,000 with 4 weeks annual vacation, as well as a defined benefit pension plan. This is an on-site role, with the option to work from home on occasion.
