Join Our Team as a Legal Assistant! We are seeking an enthusiastic and personable individual to join our dynamic team as a Legal Assistant. You would support one to two lawyers who primarily work in the areas of corporate, commercial, estates, and real estate law. While this role may be suitable for appropriately determined and motivated candidates who are wishing to start working in the legal services industry, prior experience and/or certifications in the industry are preferred. Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive administrative support, including document preparation, drafting, and review of legal documents. Conduct searches as needed (Land Title Office; BC Online; PPR; etc.). Assist in drafting and management of annual reports for B.C. corporations, societies, federal corporations, and extra-provincial organizations. Conduct legal research when required, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Assist in managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings and travel arrangements. Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems, ensuring confidentiality and easy retrieval of documents. Serve as a friendly point of contact for clients and external stakeholders, providing excellent client service and responding to inquiries promptly and professionally. Collaborate effectively with our legal team, demonstrating strong communication and teamwork skills. Assisting with bank runs from our office to local financial institutions. Qualifications: Previous experience as a legal assistant or in a similar administrative role is preferred, but we welcome applications from motivated individuals looking to kick start their legal career. Legal Administrative Assistant Certification or Paralegal Certification is preferred. Solid understanding of corporate law, corporate structures, and commercial real estate is an advantage. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, allowing for efficient management of multiple tasks and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with legal software and research tools is a plus such as LEAP and Appara. A positive attitude, friendly demeanour, and willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive work environment. Willingness to learn, curiosity, and a desire to expand your own legal knowledge. Who We are: We are a small Vancouver-based boutique law firm that caters to small and medium sized businesses and international clientele. We have been serving the Greater Vancouver community for over sixty years and have a strong, well established client base allowing us to provide an engaging and diverse set of responsibilities. Please note that this is *NOT* a remote position. Physical attendance at the office is required. We are *NOT* looking for part-time hires, only full-time. Interviews are conducted *in-person*. This is an on-site role. We do not offer remote interviews. There is an expectation that you will be located in the Metro Vancouver area. Pay/Salary (Pay Transparency Act) $26 - $35/hour, commensurate with experience & certifications. Overtime pay. Discretionary annual bonus scheme. Annual Vacation after completion of three (3) month probation. Full-time, Monday to Friday.
