Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Independent Contractor to lead the planning, execution, and successful completion of our marine jetty construction project. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in managing marine infrastructure projects and demonstrate exceptional leadership and strategic planning skills. The ideal candidate will be based in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, however candidates who meet the above Responsibilities and Qualifications seeking to work on a rotational basis may be considered. The term is for the duration of the project which is approximately 3 years in length. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive project delivery plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Provide oversight and direction to a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Oversee and coordinate the activities of engineering and construction contractors, ensuring they meet project specifications, timelines, and quality standards. Ensure the project design and turnover planning considers appropriate jetty operations, including handling, logistics, and jetty management. Execute prepared environmental management plans, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and conditions management. Oversee the project budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and financial control. Ensure all project activities adhere to relevant safety standards, environmental regulations, and legal requirements. Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks to the project, ensuring proactive problem-solving. Establish and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure project deliverables meet the highest standards. Maintain clear and effective communication with senior management and other key stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing any issues promptly. Ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and equipment. Prepare and present detailed project reports to executive leadership and other stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and solutions. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Project Management, or a field related to Marine-based project delivery. A Masters degree or PMP certification is highly desirable. Minimum of 15 years experience in project delivery with progressive leadership capabilities. Must have a strong background in executing and completing marine construction projects. Advanced proficiency in project management processes and tools (e.g., MS Office suite, Primavera) and a deep understanding of marine engineering principles and construction methodologies. Extensive knowledge of marine laws, environmental regulations, and safety standards. Proven track record of leading and managing large, multidisciplinary teams with a focus on strategic leadership. Demonstrated experience in managing engineering and construction contractors, ensuring adherence to project requirements. In-depth understanding of port operations. Strong knowledge of environmental management practices and regulations for marine projects. Possesses critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities. Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to evolving project requirements, changes, and challenges.
