Security Supervisor - Calgary, AB - 60K-70K (benefits package & RRSP contributions) Job Description The incumbent, under the direction of the Security Manager, will supervise security staff daily. The department consists of 11 in-house and 3 contract security staff. Duties include managing the building security control room during normal business hours and providing direction and training in all areas of operations of the building security department. This position is required to manage parking requests, deliver fire warden program training, and provide other security management tasks as needed. This position is to provide support to security staff to ensure optimal productivity. This position, while scheduled Monday to Friday, is based on providing support 24/7 to the department and building. Primary Duties Include but are not limited to the following: Provide direction and training to all security staff in all areas of operations of the building security department. Be familiar with programming and production of access cards for security systems. Fixing/correcting any access card problems that may arise. Provide investigation support. Handle requests for access reports and other information. Ensure completion and accuracy of team logs and checks. Ensure team deportment is acceptable. Draft and submit service requests to appropriate parties when required. Provide a conflict resolution role. Advise local police authorities of any criminal activity that may occur in relation to the building or facilities. Assist the fire department in any incidents of fire and act as first responder to any medical emergency within the building. Emergency Spill Response handling with Security Team - spill mitigation. Ensure adherence to safety standards by team members, contractors, and employees. Carry out performance appraisals of all junior security staff and provide feedback to the Security Manager when requested or deemed appropriate. Assist with the administration of staff records. Obtain security department supplies and equipment as they relate to security systems. In conjunction with the Security Manager, ensure that all security systems are maintained, and necessary backup of information is completed on a regular basis. Assist with identifying system problems to the service technician. Under the direction of the Security Manager, coordinate and supervise the fire warden program for the tenants throughout the building. Schedule and carry out fire warden recruitment and training. Assist in fire drills and audits of plans for evacuations in fire situations at the building and remote facilities. Assist the Security Manager in relation to emergency situations that might arise in connection with the building or the tenants of the building. Be aware of all emergency procedures and direct security staff accordingly. Provide direction to staff relating to incident management and investigation, ensure proper information is collected and passed to appropriate authorities. Supervise the entry and maintenance of online security logs and report writing systems. Be responsible for key control throughout the building, maintaining records in the online control system. Carry out key audits in relation to space. Under direction of Security Manager, assist with the management of monthly parking stalls in the building. Maintaining online records, issuing access cards and administration of parking stalls. Manage bicycle parking stalls in the building. This includes maintaining online records, issuing access cards and administration of parking stalls. Take on the responsibilities of the Security Manager in the event of that persons absence. Security department management may direct other duties as required. Position Requirements Ability to work in a team environment as a supervisor. Ability to work with the public in a competent and professional manner. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Minimum education Grade 12. Possess related credentials/certification in security and leadership. Requires five years security-related experience in a leadership position. Hold computer skills and knowledge of relevant software. Be qualified in Standard First Aid and CPR or willing to obtain qualification within six weeks of employment. Hold the CPO designation (Certified Protection Officer) or willing to obtain within first year of employment. Must obtain the Certified Security Supervisor/Manager certificate from IFPO within second year of employment. Must hold a current Alberta Security Services License as required under the Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act.
