Overall Responsibilities Provide strong leadership and clear direction to operations personnel through effective training and communication to ensure schedules are met. Supervise manufacturing, warehousing, and packaging processes, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to uphold quality and regulatory standards. Specific Key Responsibilities & Duties Workforce Coordination: Assign operators to daily tasks, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Production Planning: Assist in developing daily and weekly production schedules, including staffing requirements. Cross-Departmental Support: Provide operational support across manufacturing, packaging, and warehouse departments. Issue Resolution: Identify and troubleshoot production issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency. Training & Compliance: Conduct initial and ongoing training for operators on safety protocols, equipment handling, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company policies. Equipment Inspection: Ensure all machinery is clean, properly set up, and meets safety and operational standards before production begins. Sanitation & Housekeeping: Monitor and enforce housekeeping and sanitation programs to maintain compliance with company and industry standards. Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency gains and operational improvements. Collaboration & Communication: Engage with peers, subordinates, and other departments to align on shared objectives. Documentation & Reporting: Complete, review, and recommend improvements for all manufacturing and packaging documentation. Labour & Payroll Oversight: Review and approve labor reports and employee overtime submissions. Equipment Maintenance: Monitor equipment and facilities, issue work orders for necessary repairs, and follow up to ensure timely completion. Employee Performance Management: Participate in employee evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as required. Inventory Management: Maintain adequate stock levels of tablet tooling, spare parts, and materials. Ingredient Verification: Ensure all required ingredients are available before production begins, as specified in manufacturing formulas and packaging forms. Issue Escalation: Report production challenges, providing recommendations for resolution. Compliance Monitoring: Escalate deviations from Standard Operating Procedures and manufacturing/packaging instructions to ensure adherence to quality and regulatory standards. Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to and enforce company Health & Safety Policies and SOPs, including the Safety Responsibilities Procedure. GMP Adherence: Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices across all GMP-sensitive areas of the facility. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in tablet compression and coating manufacturing, or an equivalent University/College degree in a science-related field. Experience managing or supervising unionized employees is an asset. Proficiency in computer applications and industry-related software. Strong working knowledge of regulations, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels. Self-motivated, proactive, and able to thrive in a team-oriented environment. Experience with validation processes is an asset.
