Our comprehensive benefits program is employer-paid and includes extended health care, out-of-country insurance, as well as life and disability coverage.Additionally, we offer a retirement pension plan, an employee and family assistance plan, and participation in the Employee Share Ownership Plan (TSX: CHR).Explore your next role:The Design Engineer - Defense supports the Senior Design Engineer in fulfilling the requirements of the SDE as defined by the Department of National Defense (Canada) with respect to the airworthiness organization related to the Manned Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance In-Service Support of 3 King Air 350 aircraft.Technical Design Support:Develop technical studies, reports and proposals for technical matters related to a fleet of modified King Air 350 aircraft.Adress material / component issues including obsolescence management, replacement parts, alternate parts.General problem solving of technical issues pertaining to the fleet of modified King Air 350 aircraft.Verify specifications for type designs comply with applicable airworthiness rules and standards.Address non-compliances and issue airworthiness instructions for operational aeronautical products.Liaise with the Design Authority and Type Certificate Holder (TCH) for approved type designs.Airworthiness CompliancePrepare airworthiness documentation, including risk assessments, deviations, specific purpose flight permits, Technical Airworthiness Clearance plans.Manage and upkeep aircraft monitoring programs including monitoring programs for aircraft structures, mechanical systems, engines and EWIS.Develop and propose processes for inclusion in the Engineering Procedures Manual (EPM) to align with applicable regulations.Interpret and ensure adherence to airworthiness standards, processes, and the Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM).Oversee airworthiness activities, ensuring compliance with the TAA-approved EPM and ATO procedures.Notify the SDE of procedural deficiencies and recommend improvements.Training & Oversight:Support the SDE to ensure organizational personnel are trained and knowledgeable in airworthiness-related tasks.Act as Acting SDE during the SDE's absence, with written authorization specifying limitations.Contract Management & External Oversight:Develop and maintain service agreements with external agencies to ensure compliance with airworthiness standards.Monitor external agencies' work quality and compliance with TAA requirements.Ensure corrective actions address non-compliances effectively.Continuous Improvement:Monitor and report on airworthiness issues to the SDE and organizational authorities.Ensure quality oversight for all airworthiness-related activities within the ATOs scope.Your Distinctive Ingredients for Success:Degree in an applicable engineering discipline from a university recognized by the TAA, or equivalent knowledge through other education and training.Licensed to practice engineering in Ontario.Minimum 6 years of aerospace engineering experience, including progressively advanced responsibilities.Expertise in FAR Part 23 aircraft and modifications to those aircraft.
