About the Role: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) contributes to the overall success of the organization by overseeing all financial and IT functions. The CFO oversees an operating budget in excess of twenty million dollars, leads the development and stewardship of finance policies, processes, and controls, and functions as the organizations Controller. They monitor all regulatory and funding requirements, ensuring compliance. The CFO will manage Sherbournes procurement function and service agreements while serving as an expert advisor for management in all finance-related matters. The CFO also oversees the Information Technology needs of the organization, supporting the IT Consultant and ensuring IT infrastructure is functional, secure, and cost-effective. Scope of the Mandate: The CFO is a member of the Senior Management Team, expected to provide leadership and direction. This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance concerning accounting and financial reporting functions, overseeing cost and general accounting, accounts receivable/collection, and payroll. They focus on developing and leading a high-performing, service-oriented finance & IT teams and provide backup support to the President & Chief Executive Officer. Responsibilities and Tasks: Finance Financial Operations & Risk Management Oversees development and maintenance of timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP. Implements and monitors compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures, including procurement and vendor contracts. Ensures all statutory requirements are met, including Charitable Status and tax obligations. Contributes to the Enterprise Risk Management Program, monitoring financial risks and proposing solutions. Prepares supporting information for the annual audit and responds to external auditors' inquiries. Documents and maintains complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions. Manages cash flow and prepares forecasts. Ensures employee and financial information security in compliance with legislation. Payroll Oversees payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate employee payments. Validates annual T4 and T4A in coordination with payroll providers. Budget and Audit Leads Finance team in preparing for the annual audit. Supports Senior Management in developing and inputting annual budgets. Procurement Develops and monitors compliance with procurement policies and procedures. Manages all service contract processes and evaluations. IT Management Oversees IT strategies and plans to support organizational priorities. Ensures compliance with service level agreements and optimizes IT vendor relationships. Team Management Selects, orients, and supervises the Finance team. Provides employees with direction, performance evaluation, and opportunities for training. To Thrive in This Role, Youll Need: Education/Experience: CPA designation required. 5-8 years experience in a similar field, with at least 5 years in a supervisory financial role in a charitable/not-for-profit environment. Skills and Abilities: Strong financial acuity and analytical skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Conditions of Employment: Employment contingent upon satisfactory background checks. Works within relevant legislation such as OHSA and PHIPA. Working Conditions: The standard work week is 37.5 hours, with occasional work outside normal hours.
