Job Description

The Manager, EPR Policy and Engagement is responsible for supporting the ongoing implementation and steady operation of Albertas Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system. This role focuses on managing stakeholder engagement, overseeing policy execution, and ensuring compliance with program objectives while continuing to refine and enhance program delivery. As part of the Client Relations portfolio, the Manager will work closely with the Director, Client Relations, to maintain and strengthen relationships with stakeholders, coordinate engagement activities, and ensure that stakeholders have the tools and resources needed to navigate Albertas EPR framework effectively. CORE RESPONSBILITIES: Stakeholder Engagement and Management Working with the Director, Client Relations EPR, this role will: Act as a point of contact for stakeholders, addressing inquiries, facilitating introductions, and providing timely, clear information to support their needs. Coordinate and facilitate advisory councils and stakeholder working groups to maintain collaboration, address concerns, and align engagement activities with ARMAs priorities. Assist the Director, Client Relations, in preparing for stakeholder engagements by developing speaking points, presentations, and briefing materials. Represent ARMA at stakeholder events, trade shows, and speaking engagements, with occasional travel required to share updates, foster relationships, and promote EPR goals. Collaborate with Corporate Services to develop and maintain the EPR engagement calendar to ensure seamless coordination of activities and communications. Maintain and strengthen relationships with communities, producers, and other stakeholders to ensure engagement activities align with Albertas EPR objectives. Policy and Program Support: Provide research, analysis, and policy recommendations to support ARMAs ongoing stakeholder engagement and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements. Develop and maintain high-quality stakeholder communication materials, including outreach tools, policy briefings, and training resources to enhance understanding of EPR systems. Document and refine policies, processes, and procedures to support the long-term consistency and effectiveness of EPR initiatives. Monitor stakeholder progress and provide regular updates to the Director, ensuring alignment with EPR program timelines and organizational goals. Support collaboration with ARMAs compliance and registry teams by channeling stakeholder feedback to improve processes and address program challenges effectively. Other Duties Support the ongoing development of outreach materials for communities and stakeholders to maintain understanding of EPR systems. Oversee contractors and consultants involved in EPR-related initiatives, ensuring their work is delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while maintaining alignment with ARMAs strategic objectives. Success Measures Effective execution of stakeholder engagement processes, including timely facilitation of advisory councils, working groups, and engagement initiatives. Development and maintenance of clear, well-documented policies, procedures, and outreach materials to support regulatory alignment and stakeholder communication. Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with high-level stakeholders to advance EPR objectives. Continuous refinement and optimization of engagement and policy processes to meet the evolving needs of the program. Experience and Competencies Advanced professional knowledge in business administration, public relations, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Experience developing, documenting, and implementing policies, processes, and procedures to support program delivery and stakeholder engagement. An understanding of waste/recycling operations is considered an asset Proven expertise in stakeholder engagement and relationship management. Exceptional strategic thinking skills and the ability to synthesize information into actionable plans Leadership experience is considered an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing professional documentation, reports, and presentations. Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing needs in a dynamic environment. Experience using Office 365 and familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce is an asset.
