The Alberta Gymnastics Federation (AGF) is the provincial body responsible for the development of gymnastics within Alberta. Based in Calgary, AGF has 73 affiliated clubs and a membership of over 49,000 individuals. Position Summary The Communications Manager is a full-time role reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, staff, Gymnastics Canada (GymCan), Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs), and community stakeholders to develop and execute communication strategies that enhance AGFs brand, engage members, and increase organizational visibility. Key Responsibilities Strategic Communication & Brand Management Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with AGFs vision and goals. Represent AGF in monthly communication and marketing committees with GymCan and PSOs. Uphold and ensure brand consistency across all materials and platforms. Content Creation & Digital Presence Manage AGFs communication tools, including the WordPress website, newsletters (via Activity Messenger), and printed materials. Oversee and grow AGFs social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) by creating engaging campaigns and posts using Canva and other platforms. Develop and execute marketing campaigns, publications, and PR strategies to enhance visibility and engagement. Media Relations & Community Engagement Coordinate press releases, press conferences, and media events in collaboration with partners and sponsors. Engage AGF members through timely and effective communication. Support public relations efforts to expand AGFs presence and foster partnerships. Operational Support Assist with updates to technical manuals and other organizational documents. Collaborate with the CEO and Events Manager on revenue-generation initiatives. Contribute to recruitment and team-building efforts within the office. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proficiency with WordPress, Canva, Office 365, and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok). Proven experience in strategic communications or marketing, ideally in a sports context. Strong writing, organizational, and digital communication skills. Creative, collaborative mindset with excellent attention to detail. Knowledge of the gymnastics landscape is an asset. Previous experience with not-for-profit organizations or amateur sports is a distinct advantage. French language skills are a plus. Position Details Hours : Full-time, 3240 hours/week, with flexibility for evenings and weekends during events. Location : Based in Calgary, Alberta. A hybrid work arrangement may be considered after the onboarding period. Salary : $50,000$60,000 annually, based on experience. Start Date : February 2025.
