Social committee activities year-round Responsibilities Help employees navigate policies, programs, and work-related issues. Deliver on various P&C projects including but not limited to policy review and updates, and onboarding. Participate in all aspects of the P&C function including recruitment and selection, employee relations, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, policy and procedures and compliance with provincial/federal legislation. Undertake full-cycle recruitment including but not necessarily limited to posting open positions on job boards, conducting phone screenings, coordinating, and conducting interviews, reference, and background checks, and preparing offer letters and hiring packages. Coordinate new hire onboarding process, by ensuring access to equipment and tools, tracking the completion of required documentation and training, hosting the new hire orientation, and communication of new hire announcements. Perform the administration of all employment actions, such as hiring, performance management, promotion, demotion, layoffs, terminations, staffing, wage and salary actions, transfers, training and working conditions. Maintain working knowledge of applicable provincial/federal legislation, including Occupational Health and Safety Participate in the Health and Safety Committee meetings Liaise with vendors, government officials (i.e. Employment Insurance, Ministry of Labour, OHSA, etc) or Legal Counsel in the handling of employee related matters Maintain confidentiality in all interactions and duties and only share need-to-know information. Keep abreast of current Human Resource best practices. Participate in ongoing personal development and continuous learning. Special projects or other duties as required. Knowledge and Experience Must be currently enrolled in a College or University Human Resources Program Experience in the Human Resources or Administration sector is preferred Skill Requirements Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (such as Outlook, Excel, Work, Teams etc.) is required High level of professionalism, confidentiality and tact. Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency when carrying out duties Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills and time management skills Keen attention to detail and accuracy Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Ability to meet deadlines is a must Ability to work under high pressure at times Proven ability to foster and maintain relationships Job Type/Hours Temporary Unpaid Internship Work-from-home position Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (overtime may be required from time-to-time) - we are flexible on how many hours per week to accommodate studies This is a new role at the company New Haven is committed to building a diverse workforce that is representative of the communities we serve.
