Job Summary: The Lean/Capital Project Engineer is responsible for implementing and managing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies within the organization, as well as leading mid to large capital projects for the organization. This role focuses on optimizing processes, reducing waste, and enhancing productivity to drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: Lead and facilitate Lean initiatives and continuous improvement projects across various departments. Conduct thorough assessments of current processes to identify areas for improvement and waste reduction. Utilize lean tools and methodologies such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma to develop and implement process improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish standard work procedures and ensure best practices are followed. Train and mentor employees in Lean principles and practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Monitor and analyze KPI data to track the effectiveness of implemented improvements and make data-driven decisions. Develop and present reports on continuous improvement efforts to management, highlighting achievements and areas for further enhancement. Participate in problem-solving and root cause analysis activities to address operational challenges. Lead and project manage the sourcing and implementation of mid to large capital projects Manage and coordinate all facilities management activities, including maintenance, repairs, and renovations. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of equipment and infrastructure. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Interact with equipment or service suppliers to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget and that they are executed with excellence Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field. Experience in a lean engineering or continuous improvement role within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong knowledge of lean methodologies, tools, and techniques. Knowledgeable of building codes and required certifications for equipment, buildings, and other facilities Needs to have a good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems to advice on equipment malfunctions or required changes Ideally brings a good network of equipment suppliers Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and lean manufacturing software tools. Preferred Skills: Lean certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt) is highly desirable. Experience with project management principles and tools. Ability to lead training sessions and workshops effectively. Working Conditions: Office and manufacturing environment. May require travel to different facilities as needed. Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary based on experience. $80,000 to $120,000 annual salary range.
