Job Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT: This position is responsible for the daily outbound load planning for distribution across US and Canada to ensure timely and efficient delivery. The Logistics Planner will have daily interaction with various internal departments and logistics service providers. The Logistics Planner will coordinate and consolidate loads effectively and liaise with the other internal departments as required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Plan loads by arranging for multiple stop shipments (LTL/multistop load) on each load and assigning the appropriate carriers based on the FFP (Furlanis Freight Program) listing and carrier ranking by lane assignment supplied by Logistics Management; this is a large functional aspect of the position Use Transportation Management Software (BluJay Solutions) Verify and complete required custom documentation for cross border shipping. Create daily Outbound and Customer Pickup (CPU) schedules using Transportation Management Software (TMS). Assist carriers with all challenges in regard to planned loads. Effectively communicate with internal departments, carriers and 3PL partners. Analyze transportation planning opportunities to reduce transportation costs. Identify and execute improvement opportunities that improve financial performance and service levels and enhance value proposition for internal departments and customers. Identify compliance issues and participate in metric feedback process. Propose possible remedies / action plans to Logistics Team. Handle freight claims / customer charge backs Assist in Auditing Logistics costs and activity ensuring adherence to contract and rates Assist Procurement with the arranging of vendor pickups when required. Cross training in other areas of Transportation Team Comply with HAACP, BRC and SQF compliance. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: 2 - 5 years on-the-job experience in a manufacturing/production setting. Knowledge of Customs documentation and USMCA regulations. Familiarity with freight rates and carrier cost structures preferable EDUCATION: High school or equivalent Post-secondary education preferred Designation of Customs Compliance Specialist (CCS) preferred OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: Proficient experience in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ERP and TMS Demonstrates organizational, multi-tasking, and analytical skills Decision making abilities in order to select most cost-effective carriers Excellent verbal and written communication skills Tracking & tracing claims Trucking & customs interactions Managing freight carriers Data analysis/mining Working with production delays & changes; having to adapt accordingly Must be available evenings, weekends and holidays.
