Development Coordinator / Development Planner We are seeking a candidate with a degree, and some work, co-op and/or internship experience in, Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Civil/Municipal Engineering and/or another technical background, with an interest to work in the real estate development industry and join our clients team. In this role you will be reporting to the VP directly. The ideal candidate is motivated to learn and grow, demonstrates deep interest in real estate development, and is passionate about city building. This position is a great opportunity for someone up and coming in their career who wants to be involved in solving problems on some of the largest development projects in North America. The individual must possess strong project management, communication, writing, and analytical skills, along with being a self-starter and having a can-do attitude. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for project coordination on various development files that include project feasibility, due diligence, demographic insights and market analysis, and strategic decision making, to produce reports and presentations of recommended actions & outcomes. It is expected that this individual will be actively involved in the industry and provide effective and timely communication on projects. Responsibilities Maintain research resources of demographics, transactions, construction costs, financial trends, current and emerging municipal policies, and other economic trends as required. Assist with project management of active files, including attending meetings and presentations. Conduct research and analysis on land, housing, and commercial real estate markets across multiple key markets. Create engaging presentations to showcase findings to clients and stakeholders. Prepare reports and summary documents for the executive team and external partners that result from economic and policy research for reporting/submission documents. Prepare and update proforma models for presentation to the senior leadership team to aid in decision making of highest and best use of development sites. Obtain inputs and assumptions for analysis through market research, review of third-party reports, municipal policy and guidelines, and collaboration with consultant teams. Attend industry conferences, webinars, and socials to maintain finger on the pulse of the industry. Aid in various financial analysis with respect to affordable housing initiatives, replacement units, city fees, etc. Other ad hoc analysis will be required. Qualifications 0-2 years of relevant work experience (including co-ops or internships), with exposure to, or understanding of, the real estate development industry. Post-secondary education with a focus on Finance, Commerce, Real Estate, or Urban Planning is ideal. Professional designations are considered an asset. Superior analytical and research skills combined with strong communication and presentation skills to present conclusions and recommendations. Ability to deliver on commitments and manage multiple deliverables within tight timelines. Collaborative attitude with the capacity and willingness to manage multiple tasks by being flexible/adaptable and responding to changing circumstances.
