A knack for and experience in driver performance management is a must. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement of systems and personnel performance. The role involves managing staff across multiple geographic locations, requiring decisive and calculated support and decision-making in collaboration with customer service, with the ultimate goal of efficient dispatch and driver performanceThis role includes:Operations ManagementPromote and practice active and effective communication with the customer service team to ensure unity is present, and service is planned effectively and efficiently.Ensure dispatching methods fully optimize truck utilization and productivity.Ensure dispatch team is timely and effectively addressing and resolving driver and customer issues that may ariseManage and speak to costs related to driver activities and equipment usage, minimizing variable expenses and fully capturing applicable revenueEnsure team compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including safety standards, weight restrictions, and driver hours of serviceFully optimizing teams use of transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software to perform the above functions.An ability to find creative solutions to accommodate customer requests outside of customary processes.Communicate proactively any delays or disruptions in delivery schedules to customers and provide alternative solutionsDriver Management Effectively manage performance of in house fleet of drivers and owner operators.Ensure work is fairly and equitably distributed among the driversResponsible for driver performance program - manage, organize and continually driver performance metrics to ultimately maximize driver experience and outputOversee the operational management of equipment used by drivers, such as chassis, gensets, and trucks, to ensure effective utilization.Responsible for owner operator and driver employee experienceListen to drivers feedback and ideas and consider their input when making improvements or changes.Anticipate and address driver concerns proactively, ensuring healthy two-way feedback channel is in place to maintain relationships and retentionFoster a positive and supportive work environment for drivers and staff, prompting open communication and addressing their concerns or grievances promptlyManage and lead driver dispute resolution related to operational conflicts or issues promptly and professionally, finding amicable resolutions.Ensure new drivers are provided appropriate onboarding and orientation by providing training on processes related to scheduling, routing, communication, and introduction to team.Conduct rate negotiations with drivers in new lanes to ensure fair compensation and mutually beneficial agreements.Implement driver retention strategies are practiced to ensure job satisfaction and minimize turnover.Effectively manage subhauler (3rd party) relationships and performanceProcess ImprovementsRoot cause and evaluate on time performance issueA lean approach to process improvement, evaluate current dispatch processes and continuously improve on them.Bring a technological edge for best use of software for automation and dispatch efficiencyQualificationsA post-secondary degree in transport and logistics.A minimum of 5 years of logistics and dispatch management experience.Proficiency in route planning, dispute resolution, and MS Office (intermediate level).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Tech-savvy with experience leveraging software for automation and efficiency.Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.Our Dream Teammate Will Be:A proactive problem solver who anticipates challenges and implements solutions.Driven by a growth mindset, consistently seeking to learn and improve.MASSIVELY organized with a strong process orientation.An inspiring leader capable of motivating teams and fostering collaboration.An effective communicator who tailors messages for maximum impact.Focused on customer satisfaction, providing solution-based assistance.Tech and software inclined, always exploring new tools and innovations.Resourceful and dedicated to achieving high-quality outcomes.Location: Toronto (with occasional travel to Montreal)Job Type: Full-timeReady to take on this exciting challenge?
