You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives in talent management, employee development, workforce planning, and the implementation of HR policies, ensuring they support and enhance Messers growth and success.What youll do:Provide guidance to both union and non-union client group on all employee relations matters by coaching employees and managers on the interpretation and application of policies.Lead strategic HR priorities for the region. Align HR strategies to effectively link to business priorities, maximize talent, minimize risk, and optimize business performance.Work with managers to investigate employee complaints, find root causes through meetings/interviews with peers & colleagues. Assess situation in its entirety and supported by facts in order to mitigate chances of litigation and/or discrimination complaints.Partner with all HR functions, including recruitment, compensation, benefits, leadership development, employee services, employment/labor counsel to provide efficient, value-added, and human resources solutions in alignment with the HR strategy.Maintain excellent labor relations by managing union employee issues and grievances in a fair and equitable manner.Efficiently negotiate Union contracts as the authorized spokesperson at bargaining table and for the duration of the CBA, by remaining within budget/rates provided by the business, thus managing the process in a highly cost-effective manner.Handle special projects within client group or as assigned to other business or HR areas.In conjunction with Compensation and line management, ensure robust job descriptions are evaluated properly in accordance with Messer standards and consult with compensation proactively on new roles and/or changes and restructures.Partner with leadership development for identification and prioritization of core training needs within client function and delivery of management training programs.Ensure compliance with provincial and local employment laws and regulations and company policies and strategies including code of ethics.Deliver key talent processes such as performance management, succession, and compensation planning to clients utilizing standardized toolkits and processes furnished by other HR Specialists for seamless execution.Lead and implement succession and capability reviews and translating action planning into HR service delivery. What it takes:Education and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in HR, Business or similar is requiredMinimum of 10 years HR management experience, preferably in a manufacturing/chemical, delivering and implementing HR programs and solutions, labor and employee relations, including solid collective contract negotiation and proactive preventive labor approaches.Human Resource Professional designation would be an asset.Key Skills and Attributes:Strong knowledge and application of labor and employment laws across Canada.Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practices and legal compliance.Proven negotiation skills Demonstrated leadership and operational management expertise with a commitment to people-first strategies.Exceptional communication skills, fostering connections with diverse cultural groups.Analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, using HR data to drive organizational decision-making.Excellent client service skills with proven experience in building and maintaining relationships and ensuring service standards are met; possess the ability to gain credibility.Experienced project management and organizational skills and an ability to work efficiently and multi-task in a high volume, results-oriented environment.Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, mature judgment, and ability to take action and display initiative.Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to build relationships and influence changeAbility to develop partnerships and achieve results through others using motivation principles and negotiation skills
