(Al-Pac) is seeking a Trades Electrician to work out of our mill site near Athabasca, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of electrical work in construction, buildings, office, and plant areas. They are also responsible for covering the installation and maintenance of a wide range of industrial electrical and instrument equipment, repair of generators, high voltage switch gear, transformers repair and replacement, nuclear instrument isolation and safety, distributors, and production equipment. Also responsible for generating solutions to complex inefficiencies. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Demonstrate the ability to cover shift maintenance calls, responding to any and all electrical troubleshooting inquiries mill wide.Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Maintain and troubleshoot high voltage switch gear and power distribution specialized equipment.Maintenance of large Portal Cranes, control and safety devices while working from heights. Request any follow up work after conducting repairs or inspections on systems or assets to improve reliability, job procedures and productivity or reduce costs. Maintain and service nuclear level and flow instruments in a safe manner. Maintain and service pneumatic controls and field devices.Understand Analyzers for preventive and troubleshooting tasks. Participate in the planning and executing of electrical installations. Provide operational support by performing a range of route activities using existing systems and protocols. Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or superintendent for any exceptions from mandatory procedure. Ensure all mandatory safety documentation is completed, hazard assessments are performed including all required learning sign offs. Follow safety protocols at all times and ensure workspace is clear and hazards are controlled.Role RequirementsAlberta-certified journeyperson. Holds a recognized related trade certificate. 5 7+ years experience in manufacturing/forestry maintenance and service, or performing other electrical related duties including machinery and equipment installation, repair and maintenance.Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) an asset.OtherAbility to prioritize, manage time well, multitask and troubleshoot. The ability to read and understand complex instructions. Ability to work indoors (high temperature) and outdoors (sub-zero temperatures) at physically demanding tasks that often require climbing and lifting or moving heavy items. The job may involve standing for long periods. Ability to work independently. Accuracy in processing. Knowledge and skill in meeting deadlines with multiple duties and tasks.
