As an integral part of BCMEAs Data Analytics program, the Data Governance and Business Intelligence Analyst designs and delivers robust reporting and analytical solutions to drive BCMEAs ongoing evolution towards a data-driven decision-making culture. This role harnesses data analysis techniques support a centralized IT service desk, and collaborates with diverse stakeholders to continue the develop the maturity of BCMEAs Data Governance Program. This position is a 15 month contract, and a dedicated resource to the WaterfrontWorks initiative, which is a 7-element technology program focused on improving our workforce planning tools.ResponsibilitiesService Desk: Respond to requests for data pulls, analyses, report distribution changes, new dashboards, etc. including coordination with business or IT teams as necessary.Optimize Reporting Data: Collaborate with stakeholders to draft changes to BI reports, incorporating insights from data discovery to enhance reporting formats.Prototyping: Prototype and perform tasks for BI enhancements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and data architecture standards.Data Analysis Optimization: Facilitate the handover of analyzed data to data scientists for further modeling and to data engineers for pipeline development and implementation.Utilization of Tools: Utilize Power BI and SQL skills for developing and troubleshooting BI solutions, including DAX creation, query optimization, and semantic model building, to support actionable insights.Liaise and Coordinate: Liaise with team members and stakeholders to understand analytical solution requirements, including assessing inefficiencies in existing business applications and future business needs.Data Governance: Primary support for the Data Governance Program lead.Influence the Data Governance Roadmap in alignment with the needs of the BCMEA and its customers, and lead the implementation of related tools and software.Reporting and Dashboarding: Develop reports and dashboards using data visualization best practices and organizational report templates, ensuring usability and standardization while meeting Data Analytics program standards.Designing: Design, maintain, and optimize analytics products, data models, dashboards, and reports using business intelligence tools such as Power BI, and Power BI Report Builder.Innovation and Improvement: Continuously explore opportunities to enhance data collection and reporting processes to efficiently fulfill stakeholder needs.Monitor and Review: Regularly review report and dashboard usage metrics, proactively engaging with users to address low usage issues and make necessary adjustments.Data Accuracy: Conduct data quality validation and assurance audits to uphold ongoing data completeness and accuracy.Data Enablement: Deliver relevant insights promptly to support informed decision-making and address ad hoc requests effectively.Data Translation: Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.Industry Trends and Advancements: Stay updated with the latest tools, techniques, and trends in data analytics and business intelligence through continuous learning and skill development.Qualifications3 to 5 years of experience in Business Intelligence and Data Governance with a Bachelors degree, diploma or certificate in any related field.Technically proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel & PowerPoint), BI Tools (Power BI & Power BI Report Builder) for data visualization and storytelling, and Data Tools (SQL & Python is a bonus).Proven work experience extracting, manipulating, and analyzing complex information, like report requirements, using multiple data sources and systems.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and present to diverse audiences.Versed understanding of data governance principles (e.g., data quality, data literacy, and data security).You are organized, solutions-driven and passionate about data.
