Brunel is currently seeking a Cost Lead to work for a leading international Mining Company with major projects across the Americas. The successful candidate will be based in Vancouver, Canada, with potential business travel to engineering offices and mine sites in the US and Canada.Responsibilities:Provide project controls support under moderate supervision, assisting Engineering and Construction with cost and schedule analysis, reporting, and related tasks as directed by the Project Controls Manager. Duties include preparing reports, analyzing trends, risks, and forecasts, and presenting findings.Validate reported progress percentages based on project rules of credit through design document and construction progress spot checks. Develop and update progress measurement processes for required scopes.Review contractor schedules for accuracy, alignment with the master schedule, and compliance with project milestones and documents.Process project change notices, maintain change logs, and report changes using the companys Change Management System.Compile weekly, monthly, and quarterly project reports.Identify out-of-scope changes and document quantity variances using material takeoffs (MTOs) from design documents.Review engineering submittals, track progress, and coordinate reviews with stakeholders.Assess cost and schedule impacts of design changes, RFIs, and site conditions, proposing solutions for issues.Analyze and forecast project status against baseline schedules, identifying issues, impacts, and corrective actions.Estimate quantities and costs for project validation and minor scope changes.Ensure adherence to safety and quality by interfacing with engineering, procurement, and construction.Analyze survey data and project documentation for planning assistance.Audit contractor logs, invoices, and contracts to verify equipment and personnel utilization.Requirements:High School diploma or GED and twelve (12 years experience in engineering, construction, project controls or business-related field OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related fields and six (6) to eight (8) years experience in project controls.Experience with ERP system, SAP, P6 and EcoSys is required.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and OutlookUnderstanding of accounting functions and systemsExperience with cost control including project estimating, forecasting and cost management including reporting. Preferred Requirements:Construction experience with an ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions in a construction environmentExperience with heavy industrial construction projects
