It is imperative that you are not only an expert on your city, but that you also feel passionate about the sights and sounds it has to offer to our guests.About the opportunity:The Assistant Tour Operations Manager will be responsible for the smooth day to day operations of our market in Toronto, as well as assisting in the process of building this market from the ground up. This role is the face of our company, working on the ground, outdoors, rain or shine. During high season, weekend work may be required on an as needed basis. Your primary responsibilities include tour development, vendor communications, hiring and training guides, and resolving guest complaints on the ground. The ideal candidate has prior experience in tour development, managing people, and knowledge of the Toronto tourism industry.Responsibilities:Tour Development:In collaboration with Ground Operations Manager, develop and refine tours to launch a new market.Conduct research and product pitches to confirm viability of new tours.Assist the Ground Operations Manager in the day-today interactions with local suppliers, sites and venues.Assist in the development of guide and tour material.Ensure consistent product quality through regular product evaluations.Guide Management:Responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of guides and assist in the overall guide scheduling strategy for the market.Foster a strong guide community, providing training, communications, support, evaluations, quality assurance, and event planning.Support the ongoing training and development of our guide team through regular tour evaluations.Daily Operations:Be the first responder for major disruptions on the ground and work closely with Niagara in-destination team, guest experience team, guides, coordinators, and central teams to find solutions for disruptions.Assist in the day-to-day operations management for Toronto, including post-tour reconciliations, guide reports and tour accounting.Collaborate with central teams regarding scheduling, product development, & operational procedures.Support tour coordinations when needed; printing or collecting tickets, checking guests in, resolving issues at the start of each tour, and completing reports on what took place.Requirements and Qualifications:Degree in a relevant field is required.Prior experience in tour/ experience design, with working knowledge of the Toronto tourism industry.2+ years of experience in a people management position, with a background in recruitment and training.2+ years of experience in Operations for Tourism, Events, or a similar industry.Excellent organizational skills (time management, priority management), leadership skills and people management skills.Professionally efficient in all forms of communication, with experience providing a high level of customer service.Proactive problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail.Strong technical skills and curiosity; the ability to learn multiple systems in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work early mornings, and weekends during high season as needed.
