Job Description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this individual will support with an array of analysis for process efficiencies, process quality and safety, in addition to measurements of profitability. Working closely with operations, engineering team members, and other internal departments, the Lead Industrial Engineer will support improvement of Metros facility locations productivity and overall efficiency. The successful candidate for this position will be a strong team player who has demonstrated problem-solving, project management and organization skills along with the ability to mentor and guide peers on their team. Lastly, as a member of our core team, the right person for the role will be a leading example of our culture. RESPONSIBILITIES Obtain direction from the Engineering Manager to support the objectives of the regional Engineering Managers. Provide mentorship and guidance to each of your Engineering team members. Ensure commitments are fulfilled with good intentions and reliability. Continuously improve duties and tasks with increased quality and faster speed to market. Support cost reduction, productivity, and service improvement opportunities in collaboration with operations and the corporate engineering team. Support operational feasibility studies, analyze, design, and implement facility layouts and material handling equipment specifications. Review and develop improved facility layouts. Review and assess current Engineering methods and procedures, designing and implementing improved techniques focused on cost reduction, productivity, and service improvement. Support the establishment of new operating processes Work with sites to create forecasting, resource planning, and labor planning tools for multiple clients. Analyze productivity levels and develop best practice standards using industrial engineering techniques and methods. Maintain and update knowledge of all engineering processes, design processes for manpower and associate programs, and monitor productivity to ensure compliance with safety standards. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION Industrial Engineering or a related Engineering degree. Minimum of 5 years of process management experience in a distribution or logistic services environment. Knowledge of warehouse management system concepts and warehouse process flow. Knowledge of transportation management system concepts and process flow. Proven problem-solving and project management skills. Effective time and priority management in fast-paced, flexible environments. Accountability to deliver commitments on time, in scope, and with quality, while supporting others in meeting their commitments. Decision-making that considers diverse perspectives and engages relevant stakeholders. Adaptability and prioritization focused on delivering value to clients. Proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Project. Familiarity with layout software, such as AutoCAD. Experience with process mapping, MOST studies, and engineering labor standards. Lean Six Sigma and Project Management Professional certifications (considered an asset). Able to travel anywhere in North America 25% travel is expected Access to a vehicle is required for the GTA
