Working closely with Faculty across all programs, the primary responsibility of the Work Integrated Learning Coordinator will be to develop and maintain a network of community and industry partners to build institutional capacity and support the UNF community in a range of WIL/Experiential Learning initiatives. The ultimate goal is to support students successful transition to career or graduate studies through the development of transferable skills.Specific Responsibilities:The Work Integrated Learning Coordinator will be responsible for the following:Develop and support a network of community and industry partners to engage with university students and program participants in experiential learningEstablish and maintain a database of community partnerships related to work integrated learning and act as a resource centre to support facultyMaintain regular contact with employer/partners to provide support and assist in navigating any challengesLiaise with external stakeholders to gather and disseminate relevant labour market informationFacilitate student experiential and work-integrated placements for academic programs including the development of a work plan with learning outcomes or developmental thresholdProvide resources and assist students by coaching, guiding, and finding best-fit placementsAssist in raising awareness of the benefits of experiential learning connecting theory and practice for students, employers, educators, and communityEstablish and maintain a quality assurance framework, institutional metrics, and reporting measuresAssist in the development and implementation of University policies related to experiential and work-integrated learningSource and monitor grant-funded opportunities for students and assist in coordination and management of such projectsPosition Requirements:To be successful in the Work Integrated Learning Coordinator role, an individual must possess, and be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:Competencies:Excellent written and verbal communication skillsBehavioral elements such as: good judgment, creativity, adaptability, persuasiveness, strategic thinking, decision-making, resilience, resourcefulness, enthusiastic and meticulous attention to details.Ability to exercise mature judgment, diplomacy and discretion, and to maintain confidentialityAbility to build and maintain strong partnerships and bonds across internal teams and external partners.Ability to multi-task, while staying flexible and highly organized; Deadline-driven.A strong commitment to the mission of the University.Education and Experience:A relevant undergraduate degree with demonstrated experience in project management2-4 years of experience in a partnership development, recruitment or hiring environment with knowledge of employability skillsDemonstrated initiative in developing relationships with community members to encourage engagement with UNF studentsDemonstrated ability in employing intercultural competencies, diplomacy and tactExperience working in an educational or similar setting with international students, EAL speakers, and people with disabilities and an enjoyment of working with both individuals and within a team to meet goalsExcellent communication skills to ensure clear expectations, roles, and responsibilities and to maintain positive relationships among and between internal and external stakeholdersA high level of professionalism and ability to quickly assess situations and make evidence-based judgements to benefit student and relationships with employer-partnersExperience with policy development and implementation would be an asset, as would knowledge of labour and market trends, marketing and social media.Use of AI DisclosureUniversity of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF), UNF is committed to a fair and transparent recruitment process.
