Kelly Engineering is currently seeking an Environmental Regulatory Specialist for Dow Chemical Canada in Fort Saskatchewan, AB!Title: Environmental Regulatory SpecialistLocation: Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta T8L 2P4Contract Length: 12+ months long term contract.Schedule flexibility: 9/80 or 5/8s or 4/9s + 4hrsJob description:The Environmental Regulatory Specialist will be a part of the Alberta Operations Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) Team. The position may have the following responsibilities.Focus on Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA) legislation and may support Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Manage existing and new Alberta and Canadian environmental legislation and regulations applicable to Alberta Operations, interpret the requirements, and implement systems to ensure compliance.Collect, validate, and input data, complete emissions calculations, and write reports for internal and external compliance reporting, with a focus on air (e.g. CEMS) and water (e.g. industrial wastewater reporting).Evaluate impact of legislative/regulatory changes on Dow sites/locations, as appropriate.Evaluate plant changes according to regulatory requirements.Establish, maintain, and improve environmental regulatory work processes and documentation.Participate in and provide data for EHS&S audits.Additional responsibilities will be considered based on the successful candidates experience and on needs to balance the workload within the Alberta Operations EHS&S Regulatory team.This position is site-based at the Fort Saskatchewan manufacturing site.QualificationsSkillsA team player adaptable to changing priorities.Highly organized with attention to detail.Strong technical skills, such as emissions calculations.Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.Excellent communication skills. Able to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Fluent in written and spoken English.Experience and EducationBachelors or Masters degree in applicable area (e.g. Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science degree).Environmental regulatory or related experience is preferred.Regulatory agency and/or chemical industrial plant experience is an asset.Why Join Us?
