If youre a committed team player, we would love to have you as part of our team.About the Role:Reporting to the COO, the Senior Director, Food Safety, Quality Assurance, & Customer Relations supports the business strategy, goals and objectives and leads the organization in developing, implementing, communicating, and managing all aspects of Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Customer Relations Management Systems. Company-wide (Holdco) accountability for multiple facilities.What's in it for you?Health benefits and pension planWeekly payOnsite CafeteriaDiscount at our Chicken ShopOpportunities for career advancementA culture that values humility, a respect for family and hard workWhat you will be doing:Provide technical support to Operations, Research and Development, Business Development, Marketing and Purchasing departments, associated companies and co-manufacturers as it relates to food safety, regulatory, product specifications, processing parameters, legal and quality aspects of production and customer relations-related activities.Prepare MLFs multiple locations for everyday audit readiness against the companys strategy of the Unannounced BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance against Global Standards) audits. Additionally responsible for audit readiness in Raised without Antibiotics/Grain-Fed and Organic audits.Provide leadership for the development, implementation, communication and maintenance of Companys policies and procedures in accordance with CFIA regulations, Food Safety/HACCP and customers requirements for all facilities. Primary Food Safety and Quality Lead with key customers technical staff and the MLF technical representative for various National Associations.Oversee all technical information and product standards by ensuring the right execution of newly developed products (including Co-Manufacturers products).Assess and evaluate plant programs and processes to identify potential continuous improvement opportunities and provide recommendations to enhance Food Safety & Quality programs. Work with all management to implement new programs and policies, ensuring that processes integrate with MLFs HACCP/Food Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.Assess, recommend actions, and react to immediate safety concerns, including product recalls, withdrawals and follow up to implement preventative measures. Primary contact for CFIA during recalls and emergency crisis situations.Perform audit, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure that supply chain facilities and co-packers meet the quality and food safety standards, contributing to the MLF culture of accountability.Establish MLF Quality Assurance objectives as well as a monitoring and trending program to ensure that compliance goals are met.Provides overall management of a team or business area and includes management of individuals indirectly through subordinate Managers and Supervisors.Establish goals and priorities and manage the activities and work of subordinates. Evaluate their performance by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance.Responsible for all aspects of Human Resource functions for team including hiring, onboarding, performance management and disciplinary matters.Develop team capabilities by providing on-the-job and formal training opportunities through coaching/mentoring.Prepare, recommend, and manage four individual budgets for the direct areas of responsibility by conducting analysis and preparing data to support requested budget.Monitor the financial performance of the four areas of responsibilities against approved budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized on.What you will bring:Minimum fifteen years of management experience working in quality assurance and food safety multi-plant environment. This includes ready-to-eat products and preferably in a meat and unionized environment.Extensive knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA/Health Canada), programs such as HACCP, BRCGS, Food Safety, Food Quality, etc.;Working knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations.Ability to work/excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential.Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma process improvement tools.General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office)A University degree in the relative areas is preferred.BRCGS, HACCP and/or SQF certification preferred.
