This position reports to the VP of Resolution Analysis.Resolution is the process by which financial institutions that are failing or likely to fail are restructured or closed. Assuris serves as the lead authority in resolving failed life and health insurance companies in Canada. They are leading the development of resolution planning to support the industry’s commitment to an orderly private sector solution when any of its member companies reach the point when it is no longer viable. They are developing resolvability risk analysis and the information needed for resolution planning through collaborative engagement with their stakeholders. The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity above reproach and be able to think creatively, strategically, and critically to present optimal solutions. The Director/AVP will partner with other Assuris functional areas and collaborate with senior roles at member companies, regulators, and industry partners. Responsibilities:Lead resolution analysis for large Canadian life insurance companies, particularly Internationally Active Insurance Groups (IAIGs), including analyzing key restructuring risks and the information needed for resolution planningContribute to the development and maintenance of restructuring roadmaps and contingency planning, including resolution strategies, estimates of recovery and cost of Assuris protection, and coordination between Assuris and the regulatory authorities during the interventionDevelop and manage relationships with Canadian life insurers to obtain the information needed for resolution planning and build an understanding of the funding required from AssurisDevelop, share and present resolution analysis reports to Assuris’ Senior Leadership Team, member companies, and regulatorsMonitor international and domestic developments for consumer protection organizations and resolution authorities, identifying opportunities to advance Assuris views on life insurance resolution framework issuesQualifications:At least ten years of related experience in any risk/compliance advisory, finance, corporate development, restructuring consulting, capital/treasury, or internal audit functions Prior work experience in the life insurance industry or financial sector is preferred Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills A degree in a relevant field (e.g. finance, business, economics) is a requirement A relevant professional designation will be an asset Official bilingualism (French and English) is an assetExcellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
