Job Description

The Integrity Group of Companies consists of five different business units, with the primary areas of focus including the construction of post frame buildings across Western Canada, supplying framing material packages to homebuilders in Calgary and area, as well as manufacturing.The Designer will work closely with Account Representatives and department managers to prepare accurate design of building materials and components for customers. Their role is to ensure that we deliver accurate, competitive designs with high levels of customer satisfaction to new and existing customers.The Designers role is responsible for Interpreting and reading plans as required to design structural models primarily using the Mitek Software suite. This includes modeling and designing packages for different scopes of construction. Ranging from foundations to EWP floors, prefabricated wall panels, roof truss and everything in-between. Applications can range from DIY projects to single-family, multi-family, midrise and commercial structures.Roles and ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints and structural drawingsCreate full construction designsCreate engineered floor and/or wall, and/or roof layouts for construction use and permit processing, as well as costingPrepare shop drawings, floor plans, technical documents (ASI, RFI, RFQ).Prepare Material Summary, Cost Breakdown & Order Sheets for Sale DepartmentProvide technical assistance to customers and the sales departmentCollaborate with drafters, architects, engineers, city officials, trades and contractorsUse BIM software to design and model structural materials, components and systemsGather Information and Structural requirementsOptimize the Design to meet Construction standards, while being economically efficientUnderstand and implement load transfer through the structureUnderstand design standard for specific clientsCollaborate with other design departments to ensure an efficient structureAudit design before final production release to minimize deficienciesFollow up on all correspondence relating to accountsLiaise between Company DepartmentsOccasional site visits and other job-related duties performed as requiredEducation/Experience Requirements Diploma from minimum 2 year technical college and/or 3 years related experience is an assetPrevious experience in Lumber and construction estimating experience is an assetMust have a basic understanding of building code and construction scope and industryKnowledge of EWP, Wall Panels, and Manufactured Components and AccessoriesExperience in Multi-Family homes is an assetSkills/QualificationsExtremely well organized with strong attention to detailAdvanced functional computer and math skillsSelf-starter with the ability to work cooperatively and be willing to assist othersDemonstrates professionalism, flexibility and ‘can do’ attitudeDemonstrates understanding and adherence to a high level of confidentialityExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsAble to adapt to fast paced environmentsAbility to multi-task with strong time management skills and manage conflicting prioritiesAnalytical, fair problem-solverTechnology & EquipmentGoogle Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Gmail, Slides, Docs)Experience with Mitek Sapphire preferred, will consider previous experience using Javelin, iStruct,etc.Experience with AutoCAD, BIM, Revit and other drafting and design software an assetNOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
