This position is responsible for providing commercial and operational legal support for the activities of the company across its business units’ jurisdictions. This role is also responsible for ensuring that the company meets all of its pertinent legal requirements and advises on all legal and contractual issues as required to make informed decisions in pursuit of Black Diamond’s goals and objectives. Responsibilities Review and advise on or action a diverse variety of transactions and complex commercial contracts such as service agreements, rental and sales agreements, confidentiality agreements, memorandums of understanding, contractor or consultant agreements, RFP/tender documents, joint venture and partnership agreements and acquisitions & divestituresProvide legal support in connection with client, supplier, subcontractor contracts related to Black Diamond product offerings and servicesAdvise on legal issues related to risks and insurance, internal corporate governance, policies and procedures , along with Senior Leadership, and litigation mattersDevelop, implement, maintain and advance corporate policies and procedures to uphold company values and to help realize our strategic visionSupport with the review of real estate Leases, Licenses, Bailments and trademarks/IPProvide advisory for basic HR related issues and documentationOther Legal Counsel duties as required, including management of external legal providers as requiredQualifications Be a practicing lawyer and member of the Law Society of Alberta5-8 years of experience with the ideal combination of a strong private practice foundation, in Corporate Commercial Law ideally, complemented with public company in-house experienceBroad legal background with experience in corporate commercial lawExperience drafting and negotiating complex commercial arrangements related to construction, resources sector operations and/or logistics Experience working with international and cross-border transactionsStrong work ethic and ability to manage workloadsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven interpersonal skills to build and maintain ‘trusted advisor’ relationships with stakeholdersFor more information, please visit are an Equal Opportunity Employer Black Diamond Group Limited is committed to diversity, equal opportunity and ensuring that our employees have the ability to thrive in an inclusive environment.
