At MacGillivray Injury Law, we believe that secure and stable housing is the foundation upon which individuals can rebuild their lives. That’s why we’ve launched the MacGillivray Law Housing First Initiative, a program dedicated to helping people experiencing homelessness or living in short-term shelters find permanent, long-term housing. We recognize that homelessness is a complex issue, but we also believe that meaningful solutions begin with a compassionate, people-first approach.Through this initiative, MacGillivray Injury Law is hiring social workers to operate out of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. These dedicated professionals will establish cases for individuals needing housing, connect them with essential resources, and advocate on their behalf with landlords.Our social workers will collaborate with local agencies and government programs to remove barriers and empower participants to move forward. This includes:Assisting with rent subsidies;Helping people open bank accounts;Obtaining necessary identification documents;Liaising with landlords on behalf of the people who need our services.By addressing these practical obstacles, we ensure a smoother transition from homelessness or temporary shelters to stable housing.Qualifications:Post-secondary degree or diploma, with 1-3 years of experience working in the social service fieldExceptional interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skillsAbility to take direction, think critically, and communicate effectively, both written and orallyProficiency in Microsoft 365 suite Previous experience working in mental health, counselling, or community services is an asset
