Our residents have the opportunity to develop life skills within a supportive environment where self-reliance and independence are promoted and encouraged.YOUR ROLEReporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Care provides mental health support in a client-centered home-like environment with 24 hour/day staffing for individuals recovering from a mental illness. The Manager of Care plays a pivotal role in leading and inspiring a dedicated team to deliver exceptional, person-centered care that enhances the quality of life for our residents.As a member of the PCLA management team, the Manager of Care provides leadership of people in order to foster an environment that is supportive of engagement, achievements and the provision of quality, safe care. The Manager of Care demonstrates the beliefs, personality, temperament, and flexibility required to form trusting partnerships aimed at strengthening resiliency required for recovery from mental health.PIONEER HOUSELocated in New Westminster, Pioneer House is a 20 bed residential psychosocial rehabilitation program for adult individuals with mental illnesses. The focus is on promoting personal growth and self-reliance through life skills development. The program follows a resident-centered model and involves both individual and group services. Pioneer House is licensed as a registered mental health residential care facility under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act.POSITION RESPONBILTIESResponsible for maintaining a high standard of resident care consistent with the principles and approaches of Pioneer Community Living Association in a manner consistent with all regulatory requirements.Manages a multi-disciplinary staff team, including participation in the hiring and orientation of new staff, and conducting performance appraisals.Coordinates the development and implementation of individual service and recovery plans, and the maintenance of required records.Establishes and maintains professional contacts with the community and related agencies.Oversees the process of referrals, admissions, transfers, and discharges.Develops and delivers Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) and Recovery focused programs and services.Participates in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards for clinical practice.Serves as a resource person, teacher and role model.SKILLS AND ABILTIESStrong understanding of the theoretical and practical applications of PSR principles and approaches including the practical application of harm reduction strategies in mental health and addictions.Demonstrated conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.Ability to work effectively as a team.Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with other staff, professionals and families.Ability to make sound clinical judgements based on current nursing standards.Ability to practice in a conscientiously therapeutic manner,Ability to support and mentor staff.Personal resilience skills.QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from a recognized post-secondary program in professional nursing including evidence of current practicing registration with the BCCNMMinimum of 2-5 years of leadership experience in mental health with an emphasis on Recovery programming.Successful Enhanced Criminal record check.Current CPR and First Aid Certification.Valid Class 5 drivers license.Access to a reliable vehicle.WHAT WE OFFER We provide a competitive compensation and a benefits package focusing on wellness and self-care that includes:Extended medical, dental, long-term disability insurance, pension, life insurance and an Employee and Family Assistance programCompassionate and special leaveAnnual statutory holidays with vacation entitlement and accruementDiscounted meal cost on-siteContinuous paid training and development opportunitiesOngoing parental support including top up for maternity and parental leaveThe Manager of Care is a unionized Nurse Level 4 position with a salary range a $49.20-$63.47 per hour plus applicable premiums and additional recognition pay.PCLA aims to nurture a supportive culture rooted in compassion, collaboration and support while providing quality safe care to our residents.
