Job Description

The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting the organizations human resources functions to create a compliant, productive, and supportive workplace. This role covers a broad range of responsibilities, including employees relations, performance management, policy development, and compliance with Canadian employment standards. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the HR Generalist ensures HR practices are aligned with business objectives while maintaining adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor on workplace issues, addressing concerns, ensuring fair policy application, and fostering a supportive environment.Performance Management: Oversee the performance appraisal process, provide feedback support, address challenges, and enhance team productivity through actionable strategies.Compliance and Policy Management: Ensure adherence to Canadian employment laws by developing, updating, and auditing HR policies and workplace standards, including health and safety.Compensation and Benefits: Manage benefits administration, oversee payroll processes alongside the finance department, and recommend competitive compensation structures to retain talent.HR Operations and Strategy: Monitor HR metrics, lead organizational change initiatives, and manage HR budgets and resources to align with business objectives.Policy and Program Development: Plan, develop, and evaluate HR and labour relations strategies, including policies, programs, and procedures to meet organizational needs.Advisory Role: Provide guidance on HR policies, compensation programs, and the interpretation of collective agreements.Job Analysis and Evaluation: Research and prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions, salary scales, and competency appraisal systems.Employee Programs Management: Administer employee assistance, total compensation, training, career development, employment equity, and affirmative action programs.HR Records Management: Maintain and optimize human resources information systems and related records for accuracy and compliance.Organizational Change: Lead change management initiatives and provide HR support for restructuring or other business transitions.Policy Research and Recommendations: Research employee benefits and health and safety practices, recommending modifications to align with organizational goals and compliance standards.QualificationsEducation: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.CHRP Certification is a requirement.Experience: 3-5 years in HR with at least 1-2 years in an HR Generalist role.Hard Skills:Experience with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, etc.)Expertise in employee relations, performance management, compliance, andpolicy management.Familiarity with Canadian employment laws, HRIS systems, and HR bestpractices.In-depth understanding of compensation and benefits administration.Soft Skills:Strong interpersonal communication and active listening skills to effectively serveas a trusted advisor on workplace issues.Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities for developing actionable strategiesto improve team productivity.Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail, especially inmanaging HR records and policies.Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changes in adynamic work environment.Proven ability to provide strategic guidance in HR operations, policydevelopment, and employee programs.
