Our team embraces a flexible hybrid work model: 3 days per week in the office, and up to 2 days per week from home.POSITION SUMMARY leadership role in shaping and advancing Toronto Global’s government relations strategy, stakeholder engagement initiatives, and ecosystem diversification efforts. This leader will forge strong relationships, drive strategic partnerships, and ensure Toronto Global remains at the forefront of foreign direct investment across all our government partners and relevant stakeholder groups.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Government RelationsStrengthen Government Partnerships: Build and maintain effective relationships and forge a consistent engagement strategy with federal, provincial, and municipal funders, and other government partners, highlighting Toronto Global’s measurable ROI and strategic impact.Innovate & Influence: Anticipate and monitor legislative, policy, and regulatory developments, providing analysis and recommendations to CEO in support of Toronto Global’s mission.Strategic Communications: Serve as liaison to political leaders, government officials, and decision-makers, clearly articulating Toronto Global’s key messaging narrative. Advocate for positions that strategically advance business priorities, access to funding opportunities, or other objectives, as directed by CEO.Funding Initiatives: Collaborate across the organization to optimize funding and support new and existing funding initiatives (program funding, proposals, grants, partnership agreements, etc). Stakeholder EngagementEngagement Strategy: Support the design and execution of stakeholder engagement strategy that fosters trust, encourages innovation, and increases Toronto Global’s visibility, in alignment with KPIs.Relationship Management: Leverage insights and extensive network of non-government ecosystem partners (including industry and community organizations, academia, and other relevant stakeholder groups), to help advance shared goals and promote economic success for Ontario and the GTA. Strategic Reporting & Performance MeasurementData-Driven Analysis: Work with Corporate Development Manager to review internal KPIs to measure the effectiveness of government relations and stakeholder engagement activities (e.g., increase in funding commitments, stakeholder satisfaction levels, government official/politician outreach).Continuous Improvement: Implement processes and systems to actively track metrics; work with Corporate Development to translate metrics into insights (e.g., CRM analytics, stakeholder surveys, and program-level ROI calculations) to refine engagement strategies for ongoing relevance and impact.Reporting: Present regular updates and performance reports to the CEO and draft briefing materials to Board of Directors, as requestedDESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE An undergraduate degree in Business, Public Administration, Government Relations, or a related field is required; Master’s degree an asset.7+ years of experience in government relations, advocacy, or stakeholder engagement roles; a proven history of gaining support from senior government officials at the Federal or Provincial level is required; Municipal experience an asset.Exceptional leadership skills and a robust, multi-level government network within Ontario and/or Canada.In-depth understanding of broad economic and political factors influencing government and non-government stakeholders.Strong political acuity paired with the ability to navigate complex intergovernmental landscapes in the context of FDI.Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to nurture relationships and expand existing connections.Strategic consultation, persuasion, and negotiation skills to lead discussions and conceptualize strategies for engaging government stakeholders and negotiating funding agreements.Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) required; experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) an asset.Analytical prowess, a drive for innovation, and a proactive approach to collaborative problem-solvingCuriosity, agility, and a passion for current events and economic trends, especially those impacting business investment and growth.HOW TO APPLY Qualified candidates are encouraged to submit their resume and cover letter via email to by January 20, 2025.
