POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Director of Retail Cafs Date: November 2024 Reports to: President Location: Vancouver, B.C. Job Description The Director of Retail Cafs is an important member of the companys senior leadership team, responsible for ensuring high standards in customer service, operational efficiency, team leadership, and coffee & food quality. This leaders key focus areas will be leading a high performing customer-focused team, ensuring exceptional quality coffee and food, implementing training, tools & technology, and delivering strong operational & financial KPIs. A successful candidate will have exceptional leadership and communication skills, have a proven track record of leading muti-site operations, and be results-oriented with strong execution capabilities. This position will serve as a role model, both internally and externally, and will exemplify the companys culture and values. The position will be based in Vancouver, B.C. Primary Responsibilities Exceptional Quality & Experience in Cafs Ensure 49th Parallel exceptional customer service is being executed in all cafs Oversee effective & efficient operations in cafs focused on customers, ensure health & safety programs are executed Assess caf menu to meet needs of customers, lead recommendations on modifications Create work policies and best practices/SOPs for all caf positions Identify and oversee roll-out seasonal/new product innovation including recipe development, testing and training Identify opportunities to improve in caf experience including merchandising & signage Collaborate with marketing team to ensure successful program ideas and execution People Management, Training & Development Manage caf management team (CLT) members, create ongoing development plans for CLT and build succession plans Build and lead a positive culture and embed company values, helping employees to bring values to life; address and cultural or behavioural issues as they arise Build/oversee and manage caf hiring programs in collaboration with people & culture Oversee 49th training programs Develop and train simple and repeatable methods for caf staff to maintain/improve quality product Lead performance management program for management staff Caf Performance & Operations Develop plans to grow same caf revenue and profit while maintaining exceptional quality & experience, implement initiatives to achieve all financial targets and performance goals Manage and analyze financial KPIs and controls for all areas of the restaurant and determine business priorities Build annual budget and reforecasts for cafs Complete regular COGs and pricing reviews, maintain strong relationships with vendors Oversee and ensure maintenance and cleanliness of property Oversee management Point-of-Sale system updates and changes, as required Analyze and test new business tools and software to help streamline operations Test new equipment for ability to deliver to 49th quality standard External Focus Meet with potential partners to discuss special promotions / events Assess potential supply partners for caf food and beverage offerings Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the specialty coffee market, locally and globally Develop strategies to compete and retain relevance and competitive edge within the market Build and retain relationships with suppliers, consumers, customers and professional associations Knowledge & Skills Passionate about specialty coffee, experience in coffee an asset Exceptional leadership and communication skills, inspirational leader who manages team effectively to deliver goals Proven track record of leading a customer focused, multi-site hospitality business Results-oriented with strong execution capabilities Ability to prioritize multiple projects and drive key priorities to completion Strong, agile problem solver, ability to analyze performance data and execute strategies to improve efficiency and profitability Ability to build strong relationships with peers and team members Good knowledge of computer skills powerpoint, excel, word Have a vehicle and able to travel to all caf locations
