Role Description: Are you a dynamic professional with a positive attitude and have excellent communication skills? We are looking for a Construction Business Development Manager to drive growth for our ICI and residential sectors by identifying new business leads, assist with securing new clients and building backlog. The ideal candidate will lead initiatives to generate new leads, maintain client relationships and convert long term prospects into long term partnerships. Functions as a Business Development Manager: Lead Generation: Identify and qualify potential clients through research, networking, attending industry events, cold calling and any inquiries. Inside Sales: Conduct sales calls, virtual meetings, and follow-up communications to engage prospects and convert leads into business opportunities. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients through regular communication, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions. Follow-Up: Ensure consistent follow-up with potential clients to maintain engagement. Proposal Preparation: Collaborate with the estimating and project management teams to prepare and present proposals that meet client needs and secure new contracts. Sales Pipeline Management: Manage and track all sales activities, leads, and opportunities, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records. Market Research: Conduct market research to identify, opportunities, competitive activities, and provide insights for strategic decision-making. Reporting: Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to senior management. Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop and execute targeted campaigns that generate leads and support sales efforts. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring client satisfaction. In addition, the Business Development Manager will: Proactively assembles and analyzes relevant market and industry data as required. Develops and executes strategic marketing and business development initiatives in support of the business units. Supports strategic planning initiatives and business plans as required. Monitors client organizational changes and/or issues and communicates them to project teams/management. Actively pursues, builds, and maintains relationships in the industry and community to generate and enhance business opportunities. Maintains local relationships and accurate pipelines of clients for future projects and to obtain referrals. Qualifications: Bachelors degree or diploma in business administration, business management, marketing, communications, construction, or a related discipline or equivalent. 5-8 years experience in a related role with a minimum of 4 years experience in construction, development, with ICI, Industrial and Multi Residential sectors preferred. Experience and understanding of the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton (GTAH) construction industry and market. Possesses a detailed understanding of the goals, operations, fee strategies, and contract general conditions structure. Understands development, design, and construction terminology, delivery methods, contract types, insurance, legal issues, financing strategies, and risk analysis. Excellent knowledge of business administration and marketing fundamentals in support of strategy business development, including market research and analysis and integrated marketing principles. Strong business acumen, with an understanding of industry practices and new developments (construction process, delivery models, contract types). Strong understanding of construction and design systems, building types, and costs. Understands construction terminology and readily grasps concepts and technical processes. Understands differences between the public sector and private sector and the means and methods of procuring work. Has knowledge of competitors strengths and weaknesses as well as an understanding of unique aspects of market sector trends and influences. Ability to foster and develop relationships. A degree of aptitude in comprehending tender documents, specifications, and drawings, with an understanding of contractual requirements. Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, and diplomatically. Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational and time management abilities.
