Job Description

My client is seeking a Manager, Customs who is an expert in international trade regulations and customs compliance. In this role, they will oversee the company''s adherence to international trade regulations. Reporting to the President, the Manager, Customs will act as a liaison between Importers/ Exporters and the CBSA Canadian Border Service Agency, ensuring compliances with all federal and provincial regulations. Key Responsibilities Include: Oversee customs brokerage operations for the company. Manage a team of customs specialists. Develop and implement customs compliance strategies for the company and ensure adherence to all SOPs. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to customs and trade compliance. Oversee the filing and processing of customs entries and ensure their accuracy. Provide guidance and support to the customs team on customs compliance matters to meet brokers compliance standards as required by CBSA. Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify potential areas of risk or non-compliance. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop strategies for improving customs compliance. Stay up-to-date on changes to customs regulations and communicate relevant information to impacted teams. Manage relationships with customs authorities and external partners to ensure compliance with all customs requirements. Train employees on customs compliance policies and procedures and monitor their adherence to them. Prepare reports and updates for senior management on customs affairs. Review profitability and growth of the department. Ad hoc duties as required. Qualifications Include: At least 10 years of experience in customs compliance or related field Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) OR CTCS Customs Broker license CBSA Professional Designation is an asset Strong knowledge of CBSA Regulations and the Canadian Customs Working experience in international logistics / supply chain industry Ability to develop and implement customs compliance policies and procedures Experience in managing a team and providing leadership to ensure compliance with customs regulations Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex customs regulations to different stakeholders Experience in conducting internal audits and assessments to ensure compliance with customs regulations Ability to work collaboratively with other departments to ensure compliance with customs regulations Experience in developing and delivering customs compliance training programs to employees Strong and current knowledge of technology platforms, MS Office products, and ability to quickly adapt to new software Our Commitment to You: Being inclusive is simply welcoming you to be yourself!
