Job Description

Transportation/Dispatch Manager: Must have: FOOD/PHARMA. UNIONIZED. Must live within the GTA. Responsible for management of the Dispatch (Delivery Driver), Distribution, Invoicing, Inventory activities, Comprehensive understanding of LTL/FTL shipments. About the Role: Reporting to the Senior Transportation Manager the Dispatch Manager will Lead a team of dispatch professionals in the safe and efficient scheduling and dispatching of drivers, ensuring that all performance and customer service standards are reached. What you will be doing: Manage day to day operation within the Dispatch Delivery Driver Department. Oversee delivery schedule attainment and efficiency (Routing). Develop team capabilities through continue on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching. Liaises regularly with clients, agency drivers and unionized company drivers. Involved in qualification performance evaluation and ensures carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit and delivery. Reviews, authorizes and signs Invoice Requirements. Follows up on driver issues with process improvements and/or corrective actions (i.e. Driver Errors etc.). Manages DOR statistical requirements & inputs. Provides overall management of a large team or business area and includes management of individuals indirectly through subordinate supervisors or managers. Establish goals and priorities and manage the activities and work of subordinates Evaluate their performance by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance with set individual targets. Responsible for all aspects of Human Resources functions for team including hiring, onboarding, performance management and disciplinary matters. Develop team capabilities through continuous on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching. Prepare, recommend and manage a budget for the direct area of responsibility by conducting analysis and preparing data to support requested budget. Monitor the financial performance of area of responsibility against approved budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized on Recommend, develop and implement enhancements and improvements to departmental policies and procedures. Ensure that all employees reporting to the Manager, follows all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner. Adhere/comply with company policies and procedures What you will bring: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in the Transportation and food industry with two to five years in managing people and dispatch teams. Post-Secondary Diploma or equal work experience in related field Certificate in Supply Chain (Transportation Systems, Logistics Process, etc.) Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety & quality. Ability to lead and delegate to a team of employees. Problem identification and solving capabilities with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task and attention to detail (accuracy) Verbal and written communication skills General computer skills (e.g. MS Office) Please note that any offer of employment will be conditional upon background and reference checks, including a criminal record check.
