THE ROLEImagine the excitement and ability to show off your incredible skills in a deployed environment (overseas) for six months cutting hair for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and partner nations from across the world! As a deployed Barber, you are not just cutting hair, but enhancing the morale and welfare of all the troops deployed. The Barber is part of an enthusiastic team of adventurous individuals who enjoy meaningful employment and contributing in a team-based environment. Excited by the opportunity to deploy as a civilian among CAF personnel abroad, you are a team player with a positive attitude in a fast-paced setting. You are able to adapt to new challenges in an ever-changing dynamic environment. The Barber cuts, trims and styles hair according to the customers preference or according to particular style (i.e. fades, military haircuts). You will trim beards/moustaches, analyze hair and scalp conditions, and provide advice on treatments. In addition, Barbers can play an important role in enhancing the morale of CAF and partner nations by assisting with recreational activities and events. Keeping the military energized ensures they are mentally and physically ready to sustain the difficulties of military operations, and live healthy balanced lives. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity that does not come along often!QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses High school diploma Barber certification (Provincial) Canadian citizenship Must have a valid Canadian passport Valid Canadian drivers license (Class G or Class 5) Experience In working in a barber shop and/or in a hairdressing salon In cutting and trimming hair In shaving and trimming beards and moustaches Competencies Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership. Deployment start dates may take place within the next 2 years. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Salary: $27,935 - $30,965 for six months Hours of work: Maximum 56 hours per week, which includes weekdays and weekends. Tax free allowance: Possibility of up to $1,716 per month in addition to your salary (Allowance rates are based on mission/location/date). Home Leave Travel Allowance (Vacation): Possibility of paid leave (vacation). Accommodations and meals: provided for duration of deployment.
