Key Responsibilities: Art/Project Management: Collaborate with customers to ensure packaging layouts meet project requirements. Ensure all printing specifications and requirements are clearly communicated to customers. Review and evaluate customer-provided designs for clarity, accuracy, and feasibility. Understand and adapt die lines to meet customer specifications and design needs. Proofread packaging copy to ensure accuracy and compliance. Provide technical support for image manipulation, layout, and printing issues. Track project progress and communicate with Product Managers. Retrieve and manage archived project files. Design: Most artwork will be customer-supplied; however, some customers will request our help with design (this will constitute approximately 10% of the role). Maintain consistency with client brand style guides and artwork. Set up, adjust, and enhance artwork as needed. Create mock-ups and layout designs based on customer-provided art to ensure art and die lines are accurate. Collaborate with Product Managers and customers to ensure visually compelling package designs when needed. Review and optimize customer-provided images for print quality. Revise designs based on customer feedback. Maintain proper font management and typesetting standards. Ensure proper placement of UPCs and other necessary elements. Knowledge of taking and manipulating photos for e-commerce and advertising purposes will be a plus, as some projects may require photo edits for promotional use. Qualifications & Skills: Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Production Artist in the packaging industry. College diploma or university degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or a related field. Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat on a Mac platform. Strong understanding of print processes (Litho, Flexo, Digital) and their limitations. Experience with government labeling (Health Canada, FDA, CCCR) is a plus. Knowledge of Esko Mox is an asset. Strong understanding of die lines and packaging layout principles. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills. Strong understanding of the circular economy principles and sustainable packaging solutions to minimize environmental impact Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of French an asset but not a requirement. Ability to learn new software and customer portals. Understanding of private label packaging is a plus.
