Communications and Programs CoordinatorPosition SummaryThe Communications and Programs Coordinator will support the development and execution of FMJFs programs and communications strategies. Working closely with the Foundations team and the Co-Founders, the coordinator will ensure the dissemination of messages relating to the foundations work and future aspirations. This position is characterized by the following key components: programming, partnerships, strategy, planning and marketing.RESPONSIBILITIESCommunications Support Prepare comprehensive communications strategies for key FMJF initiatives.Manage and create content in English and French (including Web content, social media posts, annual reports, press releases newsletters, speeches) and ensure the coordination of outreach activities to effectively reach target audiences.Engage community organizations and lead the FMJFs grassroots outreach efforts.Prepare key messages for the Foundation's briefing notes and presentations to support co-founders, and Foundation staff at events and conferences, media and fundraising events. Provide qualitative and quantitative reports to assess the effectiveness of approved communications strategies.Collaboration with the Secretariat of the 27th Governor General Act as a liaison between the media, the Co-Founders, Executive Director and other FMJF stakeholders.Identify strategic occasions and opportunities where the co-founders and/or Executive Director should speak.Program Coordination Provide support for the planning and execution of FMJFs initiatives, including program development and execution, stakeholder communication, data tracking, and activity monitoring.Assist with the preparation of budgets, invoices, and reports for programs.Organize logistics for events, travel, and meetings.Coordinate with the Program Officer and Program Assistant to ensure timely completion of tasks.Research and Reporting Monitor current news and flag pertinent topics related to FMJF mission and mandate for internal distribution and strategic actions.Assist with research for program development and funding opportunities.Contribute to the preparation of impact reports, grant proposals, and stakeholder updates, as well as taking a lead role in the creation and design of the Annual General Report.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEDegree in communications or related field, or an equivalent of education and work experience related to the duties of the position.A minimum of five years' experience in a field related to the duties of the position functions (public relations, media relations, organizational communications strategies communication strategies and content creation).Demonstrate extensive experience with youth, arts and community mobilization, and innovation.Demonstrate diplomacy and sensitivity to cultural diversity in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSExtensive knowledge of current communications best practices in relation to digital and traditional platforms (specifically WordPress and WordPress and Wix web platforms), media relations and issues management.Exceptional research, writing and editing skills in French and English.Creativity, thinking outside the box and sound judgment to address both opportunities and issues.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and the ability to multi-task.Excellent understanding of the arts and culture sector, social justice and racial discrimination in Canada.Ability to assess the political and social environment and formulate objectives and key messages as these evolve.Excellent comprehension of the Halifax Declaration (Please see PDF on Foundations website).SKILLS AND APTITUDESAbility to work in a small team while collaborating with community stakeholders.Ability to document, analyze and synthesize information.Excellent writing, organizational and interpersonal skills, interpersonal skills.Excellent project management skills.Content creation skills.Demonstrates leadership and public speaking skills.Ability to establish positive working relationships, both internally and externally.Refined work ethic and ability to work independently.
