VP of Strategy & Communications Calgary Office The Laura Ballance Media Group (LBMG) is a full-service public relations firm based in Vancouver. We provide clients with support in all aspects of communications, from strategic planning and execution, preparation of key messages and communication materials, media training, event management, issues/crisis management support, and counsel. Our firm is well known for working with many of British Columbia and Canadas most dynamic events, and organizations including the Forest Products Association of Canada, Pacific National Exhibition, Honda Celebration of Light, and Vancouver International Auto Show, among many others. LBMG is looking for a meticulous communications leader with excellent management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to act as a key representative for the organization in Alberta. The VP of Strategy & Communications Calgary Office will lead the establishment and growth of LBMG's Calgary office.This leadership role will involve developing strategic communications and digital media plans, overseeing client relationships, and ensuring alignment with LBMGs West Coast clients and Alberta-based opportunities. Additionally, the role will support LBMGs internal growth and evolution by applying expertise in strategic planning, branding, and network growth to align with the companys future direction. Core Responsibilities Include: Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute integrated strategies for LBMG clients in Alberta, aligning with overarching organizational goals. Client Relations & Project Oversight: Serve as the primary contact for Alberta-based clients Oversee campaigns for regional and national clients as needed, collaborating with teams in BC and Ontario. Media Strategy & Execution: Lead strategy for traditional earned media and influencer campaigns to support client goals. Collaborate with Mediology and LBMG teams on integrated campaigns, ensuring consistency and creativity across platforms. Growth and Evolution of LBMG: Apply expertise in strategic growth initiatives to support LBMGs internal evolution, ensuring the organization remains competitive and innovative. Leverage prior experience to provide strategic direction, including: i.Facilitating the creation of a comprehensive growth strategy to position LBMG for long-term success in the Alberta market. ii.Launching or refreshing the LBMG brand to reflect its evolving goals and identity. iii.Supporting the design and launch of a new LBMG website to enhance client engagement and visibility. Collaborate with the executive team to align internal growth initiatives with external market opportunities, ensuring scalability and sustainability. Business Development: Build partnerships and identify opportunities within key Alberta industries such as tourism and tech. Participate in networking events and foster connections that create opportunities for LBMG, focusing on building relationships and supporting business development through meaningful connections. Team Leadership & Collaboration: Act as the Calgary office lead, managing team members (or contractors) and ensuring alignment with LBMGs values and goals. Collaborate with the President and Regional Vice President to ensure cohesive operations between Calgary, BC, and Ontario teams. Areas of Top Priority: Integrated Strategic communications and campaign development. Leadership and mentorship of Calgary-based team members. Supporting LBMGs internal branding and business development initiatives. Additional Support Where Required/Requested: Tactical implementation of content creation, such as writing press releases or social media management Goals for the Role: Establish LBMGs presence and credibility in Calgary in 2025. Develop and lead the execution of integrated campaigns that address local and regional challenges while leveraging national resources. Build relationships with local stakeholders, including City of Calgary representatives to drive impactful communications initiatives. Support LBMGs internal evolution by contributing to growth strategy, branding, and the launch of a refreshed website. Increase LBMGs Alberta client portfolio and foster long-term partnerships. Qualifications: Senior leadership experience in communications/PR field. Senior PR agency experience Proven strategic planning, project management, research, and technical skills. Degree or Diploma in Communications/Public Relations or Journalism. Demonstrated experience using applicable software programs including Mac OS platform, Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Strong understanding of the BC and Canadian media landscape. Demonstrated experience with social media tools and strategies. $110,000 - $135,000 per year
