This role is a permanent full-time position in any of our Canadian offices as part of our Airport Buildings team.We are seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to join our Buildings Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for two key areas: developing and mentoring team members to foster a culture of leadership, and managing the successful execution of complex engineering projects, including terminal buildings, maintenance facilities, hangars, and ATCTs.What does a typical day look like for a Senior Project Manager Technical/ Project Management;Oversee the planning, design, and construction of major capital projects at airports across Canada and the Caribbean, focusing on airport buildings and infrastructure.Lead the delivery of complex projects by managing architects and engineers, collaborating with Avia NGs technical team, and applying expertise in design, engineering, and construction to develop figures, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.Administer construction contracts with general contractors and manage consulting agreements with architects, engineers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies. Support clients through procurement processes, including pre-qualifications, RFPs, contractor evaluations, tenders, and contract negotiations.Visit construction sites to assess work quality and progress, review material and equipment testing, identify deficiencies, supervise final inspections, ensure warranty inspections, and ensure compliance with contract terms.Assist clients in defining project scope, budget, and schedule. Coordinate with government agencies, regulatory bodies, Ministries, building inspection branches, and Fire departments to secure design guidelines and approvals.Business Development/ Leadership:Drive the ongoing growth of the Buildings Team by leading business development efforts, preparing proposals, managing client relationships, engaging stakeholders, and fostering partnerships with subconsultants and suppliers.Act as a mentor for junior project managers, coordinators, and designers.Offer guidance, coaching, and career development support to team members.Create and implement strategies to enhance team collaboration.Ensure project objectives are aligned with the available resources within the department.What do we need from you? The ideal candidate for this role has a minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing complex capital projects, with a strong background in building design and/or construction, and experience in the aviation industry.A proven track record of mentoring and developing team members, as well as building and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships, is essential.This Senior Project Manager should possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, manage sub-consultants, and oversee contractors.
