Job Description

Role Director of Finance Compensation 120K-130K with 10% bonus Location GTA north Company Telecom company RESPONSIBILITIES: Consistently maintain the completeness, accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of all accounting and financial reporting information in accordance with ASPE, supporting ongoing scale changes Manage the core accounting functions of the business with honesty, integrity, and transparency. Provide strong oversight of the general ledger and ensure review and approval of all transactions Ensure the timely and appropriate analysis and accounting of significant capital projects and investments, and develop the necessary processes with the business to support this Implement consistent monthly and year end accounting close cycle. Ensure efficient day to day cash management, including working proactively with our bank, and leveraging banking and fx tools Oversee processing of billing and payment cycles for our growing customer base, including application of revenue recognition principles Manage government financial reporting, including HST, EHT, and annual tax returns for group Lead annual financial audit, with external audit firm and ongoing due diligence requirements Proactively identify areas for better financial management and process improvements, and lead the finance activities necessary for the implementation of changes Establish a culture of accountability and continuous improvement REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS: Strong controllership abilities, with full trial balance responsibility Comprehensive MS Office skills, with proficiency in (and love of) Excel necessary, Power BI optional Excellent communications skills, with an ability to effectively communicate and problem solve with different parts of the business Ability to thrive in a dynamic and often demanding environment. Very high personal standards, in terms of ethical approach to work, commitment to quality, and focus on the business priorities Experience in effective management and development of staff Strong systems capabilities, and knowledge of the business tech stack and integration possibilities. Effective process orientation and a focus on process improvement. Commitment to excellence and transparency in maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders Excellent overall analytical ability, intellectual curiosity, desire to understand and enable business operations Business or accounting degree (or equivalent) Minimum 5 years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in construction or utilities industry, CPA preferred. Exposure to cash management and foreign exchange. Strong experience with project costing and capital accounting Excellent understanding of accounting standards, GST/HST, Canadian income tax Experience with mid-market ERP and billing systems.
