We take tremendous pride in being a great place to work while achieving results that are well above industry standards.The PositionReporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Product Manager (Consumer Pet & Professional Animal) role is critical to the business. In this role, you will work closely with the Global Team, Sales Account Managers and Supply Chain team to analyze, develop, execute, and communicate product-specific strategies and funnel local market requirements to the Global Team. The Product Manager is responsible for channel-specific products, packaging, market data, and category insights, product content for packaging and digital use, pricing, profitability, SKU rationalization, building channel-specific fact-based selling stories, line reviews, and merchandising. ResponsibilitiesMarket Research: Stay abreast of changes in consumer behavior, monitor competitive products using market data (NPD and POS), and gather research from channel partners to build insights for the global product, marketing, and digital teams to drive product improvement and new product development.Global Marketing Team: Work in alignment with global product management to support assortment planning strategies for the global product portfolio, stay in touch with the Product/Channel Managers from other Wahl subsidiaries to learn from their success and share best products and practicesProduct Management: Take ownership of all aspects of Product Management product improvement & optimization, product quality and compliance, product launch planning, cost/terms negotiation with the factories, profitability and exit strategyProduct Messaging: Work with the Graphic Designer on creative packaging as well as with the Digital Marketing Specialist for online product contentProduct Launches and Line Reviews: The Product Manager will partner with the Global Team and local National Account Managers, use the market data to identify gaps in the current assortment, create business case on new product additions, execute product setup, provide sales training, support tradeshows and collaborate on the promotional strategies to grow the businessProgram Optimization and Exit Strategy: Create and execute a process to constantly analyze the effectiveness of the product portfolio to ensure slow-moving items are looked at and eliminated where applicable minimizing the financial impactFocus on Profitability: Work with the sales team to finalize the product cost, and come up with a suggested retail and customer invoice price keeping in mind the overall profitability of the category. Constantly look at swapping out poor-performing products with low margins for new items with higher marginsRelationships: Maintain a good working relationship with the Wahl factories, 3rd party suppliers, quality and compliance teams, sales & marketing teams, and supply chain teamTravel: Help plan & execute tradeshows, visit the head office in the US multiple times a yearExperienceBachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, or similarMinimum 3 years of experience in a similar role (CPG environment)Relevant category experience Animal (Grooming) Major account experience Walmart, Amazon, Canadian Tire, Winners, CostcoE-commerce experienceSkills Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPointSelf-starter, well-organized and detail-oriented, advanced problem-solving and analytical skillsDemonstrates curiosity about what drives business trends and customer behaviorsProven ability to work effectively with teams, strong communication and interpersonal skills Excellent time management skills, demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize
