BW Group is also listed as one of Forbes Worlds Best Employers 2023.About the roleThe Associate Strategic Finance will lead financial analysis and modeling efforts, creating accurate financial reports to offer insights in support of strategic initiatives and management decision-making. The individual is expected to stay abreast of renewable energy opportunities, monitoring market developments and supporting the divestment process.Key Accountabilities and DutiesFinancial Modeling and Analysis:Oversee financial analysis and modeling for solar projects, including project finance, investment evaluations, and strategic initiatives.Offer insights on financial risks, returns, and profitability to support senior management decision-making.Lead financial modeling efforts, developing and maintaining complex models for projects related to acquisitions, financings, divestments, and RFPs.Conduct comprehensive analysis of investment opportunities, employing advanced financial modeling techniques and risk assessment methodologies to assess profitability accurately and swiftly.Incorporate tax equity and project financing modeling into financial analyses to evaluate the impact on investment returns and project viability.Assist in developing and executing financial strategies for successful implementation of solar and storage initiatives.Conduct due diligence and financial assessments for potential solar and storage project acquisitions, partnerships, and investments.Analyze complex financial data and create accurate financial reports.M&A/Divestment Process Management:Support strategic finance team in carrying out financial analysis for all the acquisition opportunitiesSupport the senior team in preparation of Information Memorandum, Financial Model, Investor List, etc.Support divestment process to ensure timely response to NDA execution, investor queries and data room accessMonitor market developments and gather investor feedback to enhance the investor database and optimize divestment strategies.Market Insights and Opportunity Assessment:Stay abreast of renewable energy opportunities across North America, conducting continuous market research and analysis to identify potential impacts on origination, development, and financing.Develop deep expertise in the Community Solar, Distributed Generation, Utility Scale, and Energy Storage segments, generating actionable insights to inform decision-making.QualificationsMinimum undergraduate/bachelors degree in business, finance, economics or other relevant field, Masters degree preferredIdeal candidate will have 4-5 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 1-2 years in the US renewable energy industry with specific experience at a leading solar developer or IPP.Previous experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity preferred, or consulting is considered an assetStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with expert level excel and financial modeling skills and strong presentation skillsExposure to tax equity structuring and project financing modelling within the US renewable energy industry preferredUnderstanding of the market and mechanisms prevailing in the financing of renewable energy projectsStrong analytical and research skillsAble to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlinesTeam player with a positive attitude and strong work ethicAbility to proactively plan, schedule, track, monitor, and advance project activities, all supported by excellent analytical and problem-solving skillExceptional communication, and conflict/issue resolution skills, with the ability to proactively identify and strategically work to resolve challenging situations with confidence.Highly flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.Drive and passion to succeed in a fast-paced businessAbility to exercise independent judgement and discretion and have the confidence to ask questions to ensure clear and strategic action.Action-oriented, dedicated, and deliberate.Ability to respond effectively and positively to obstacles and challenges, while earning the trust and respect of others.Self-starter requiring limited supervision.Professional, diplomatic, polite, and trustworthy.Job RequirementsRemote /Hybrid work location within Canada or the US. The successful candidate will be expected to align their working hours in Central or Eastern times zones.Preference for candidates in OntarioAbility to travel within the United States and Canada. Travel may be required up to 30%.Valid drivers license and Passport.Work is generally carried out in a home office environment, in an office environment, at remote project development sites, operating facilities, and outdoors (with exposure to various weather conditions).Successful candidate must pass a Criminal Background Check.
