Job Description

Our esteemed client, a boutique full-service law firm in Victoria, BC, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal to join their team. While the firm handles a diverse range of legal matters, they are currently seeking candidates with a minimum of 7 years of experience in Wills & Estates support their caseload in this area. This presents an exciting opportunity for a qualified candidate to leverage their expertise and contribute to a dynamic legal practice.Key Responsibilities:Assist lawyers in drafting and preparing wills, trusts, and estate planning documents.Conduct legal research related to estate planning and probate matters.Manage probate and estate administration cases from inception to completion.Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and other parties to gather necessary information.Prepare and file probate court documents, including petitions, inventories, and accountings.Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.Schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings, and court appearances.Handle correspondence and communications with clients, courts, and other relevant parties.Provide general administrative support to attorneys as needed.Qualifications:Minimum 7 years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, with a focus on Wills & Estates or related practice area.Diploma or certificate in Paralegal Studies or a related field preferred.Sound knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and procedures pertaining to wills, trusts, & estates in British Columbia.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders.Proficiency in MS Office suite and legal research databases.Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Legal working status in Canada required; as is willingness to work on-site in Victoria BC.Benefits:Competitive compensation and benefits package.Opportunity to work with a reputable boutique law firm and gain exposure to diverse legal matters.Supportive work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.Note: This job description provides essential information about the position and is not exhaustive.
