Planning and Scheduling Manager is responsible for leading, creating, maintaining, updating, and managing critical path schedules for our on-going construction projects. This position will be based in our office based out of Mississauga. The role entails working closely with our construction managers, project managers, technical office, estimating, procurement, claims teams, all business and technical teams within the company to meet organizational objectives.Position Responsibilities:Develop and manage a $2B Design-Build LRT Project Schedule.Oversee all project scheduling activities and provide required status updates, forecasts, and reports as needed to different organization levels.Meet with the Senior Management team and the client to present progress and communicate changes, critical path, delays, mitigations on a monthly basis.Lead a team of Schedulers and Sr. Schedulers, develop their skills and ensure they are delivering on their respective objectives.Identify risks, problems or conflicts, delays and schedule impacts against the baseline schedule for the purpose of mitigating the impact of these risks.Provide Schedule Delay Analysis and conduct Extension of Time reviews, creating evaluation reports in regards to claims made by the Construction Contractor.Ensure accurate level loading of resources within the Master Schedule, identify peaks and proactively contribute to resources leveling with the Management team.Support the Project management team in maintaining timely and effective changes to project schedules that incorporate all contract requirements and change ordersCollaborate with Technical, Procurement and Construction Management on look-ahead planning and generate look-ahead schedules.Prepare and issue schedule narratives regarding the monthly progress, critical path, delays, mitigations, project performance (Earned Value, SPI, CPI), and variances against the baseline schedule.Overall responsibility for compliance of the project from applicable contract documents and (Ensure the Project Schedule meets all the Project Agreement requirements).When needed, integrate subcontractor schedules into the master project scheduleIdentify major milestones, critical/near critical activities, and long lead procurement itemsUnderstand the flow, operations, and logistics needed for the on-time execution of a projectMaintaining reports related to schedule, budget, and any other relevant information requiredBecome familiar with awarded contracts and ensure contractual obligations are considered when preparing the project schedule. Identify schedule requirements and incorporates those requirements into the project scheduleAssign resources ($, labour, material) to activities and develop cash flow reports and S-curves into a master project dashboard based on project estimates and the master scheduleDevelop, standardize, and implement scheduling and planning methods and processes for best practicesIdentify and lead continuous improvement opportunitiesPerform additional duties as requiredRequired QualificationsPreferred 10 years of progressive experience in the construction industry, in either project management/scheduling role.Rail/LRT projects an asset.Experience in transit projects is considered a strong asset.10+ years in Construction Industry10+ years performing Scheduling activities.Proficient experience in Primavera projects (P6), Earned Value Management (EVM) and report preparation skills.Excellent communication, organization, time-management, and leadership skills.Ability to lead a team effectively.Ability to develop and maintains strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders internal and externalStrong understanding of planning and scheduling principles, best practices, and techniques.Strong negotiation and mediation abilities with internal stakeholdersField planning & manufacturing scheduling experience is considered an assetAbility to design complex spreadsheet solutions, database queries, dashboards, and other analytical toolsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)Advanced critical path and project management knowledge related to the construction industryAbility to read contracts and extract critical information related to schedulingKnowledge of construction specifications, building materials, methods and procedures, and the ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and proposal documentsHighly energized, results-orientated problem solverExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishSkills and KnowledgeTILOS experience is assetApplied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles, including experience with concepts of PMBOK and AACE.Understanding of project document controls and change management processAbility to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and work in a team environmentStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesAble to interact efficiently and present to Senior ManagementDemonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities with tight deadlines
