Job Description

Purpose of the Position:The Field Service Technician is directly responsible for performing maintenance and repair work on generators, ATS, and associated equipment for Pritchard Power West and supporting all other departments. These include Sales, Administration and Parts departments.Education RequiredHigh School diploma at a minimum. Post-secondary education is considered an asset.Experience, Skills, Abilities RequiredJourneyman in either electrical, heavy equipment or automotiveMinimum 2 years' experience as a generator technicianAbility to interpret drawings, diagrams and specifications of a variety of types of mechanical and electrical equipment, including manufacturer's manuals and parts booksStrong mechanical and electrical aptitudeGood understanding of CSA 282 - Emergency Electrical Power Supply for BuildingsGood interpersonal, communication and computer skillsA clean Driver's AbstractAble to work unsupervised, and follow all safety procedures and policiesCan work while standing for up to 8 hours and/or remain seated for up to 8 hours Primary Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesThe Field Service Technician will:Maintain and repair electrical power generators and associated components;Install enclosures, winterizing components and accessories to generators;Troubleshoot and repair various mechanical and electrical problems on-site, in shop and via telephone;Perform regular scheduled service and load bank testing as per maintenance contracts;Perform generator commissioning and startup inspections;Maintain a clean and safe work environment;Maintain a clean and valid drivers license/abstract;Provide assistance to other trades, as required;Assist with service quotes/contracts;Travel by service vehicle and airplane can be expected.Perform other duties as assigned and/or required by business needsFollow all company policies and proceduresAlways perform duties in a safe, efficient, and professional mannerObtain security clearance/background checks as required for site accessWork overtime as required and partake in after hours on-call programPersonal AttributesTeam playerPositive and friendly demeanor at all timesSuperior interpersonal skillsAbility to multi-task and prioritize tasksSolid time management skillsMeet expected business deadlinesTake initiative and practice good decision makingExcellent organizational skillsGood communicatorSuperior verbal and writing skillsAct as an ambassador for the companyMaintain confidentiality at all timesCompensation$45-$50/hour4% RRSP Matching after 3 monthsExclusive Use of a Company TruckHealth BenefitsAnnual Boot and Tool AllowanceUniform Provided
