You will play a fundamental role in our transformation journey to building a stronger, more resilient bank by ensuring BOQ Groups risk management practices are robust and effective.As our Head of Line 1 Risk, your role is vital for driving a proactive risk culture across the division whilst enhancing the organisation''s ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.The role involves ensuring risk management frameworks and strategies are well-integrated into business operations, strengthening the Groups control environment, improving its risk position, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, this role promotes innovative risk management solutions, aligning risk practices with the strategic direction and growth objectives of BOQ Group overall, ultimately contributing to the organisation''s long-term resilience and success.You will be responsible for building and leading a team of experienced operational risk and compliance professionals who partner closely with the greater business where they embed the Line 1 Risk Operating Model, covering operational risk, compliance, and regulatory change.Empathetic leadership will be instrumental in implementing the Groups Risk Management Strategy, Frameworks, and Standards therefore collaboration with key stakeholders across the three lines of defence will be essential to ensure alignment of strategic priorities and effective control design. You will also provide thought leadership to risk teams, fostering collaboration, mentoring, and developing a succession pipeline through a collaborative environment.About YouAs an experienced Line 1 Risk leader, you will ideally possess a Bachelors degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management or a related field, and a professional certification such as FRM, PRM, or CPA will be highly regarded. To thrive in this role, you''ll have substantial senior leadership experience in complex organisations, ideally within financial services or a related industry. You''ll have a knack for driving risk outcomes and supporting organisations in uplifting their control environment and enhancing their risk maturity.Your track record in developing and implementing risk management frameworks will be crucial. If you have deep domain experience in either Technology and Cybersecurity or Financial Crime (FC) Risk, that''s a definite advantage. You''ll bring a strong understanding of risk management principles and practices, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are key, as well as the ability to lead and inspire a team.
